A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

The UN should investigate to determine if this is true.
Israel has been using it for a long time and nobody does nothing.
If the UN investigates and determines that Israel is using white phosphorus, the UN could condemn Israel.
The UN has officially condemned Israel well over 100 times. I doubt one more will make much difference.
Did the US join the condemnation? If the UN determines that Israel has been using White Phosphorus in a way which violates the Geneva Convention, the US might join. Otherwise, Trump will have to explain the reason.
That's an awesome level of naivety. Dude, wake up, Israel is committing genocide in broad daylight and the Orange is enabling them. You think some phosphorus will change anything?
Yes, because proving the use of white phosphorus in violation of the Geneva Convention is easier.
They've already proved it with soil samples elsewhere that Israel has attacked. Their crimes have been documented in every possible way and brought to the UN, for decades. Official UN bodies have condemned them. Israel and the US instead says you can't trust the UN or Human Rights Watch or any other monitoring group.
Soil samples per se doesn't indicate illegal use of white phosphorus (WP) since the Geneva Convention permits some uses of WP. Bring the evidence before the Security Council for discussion. Israel's actions in Lebanon are part of the Iran deal.
That is true, but as a permanent member of the UNSC the US vetoes any measure that would hold Israel accountable. But yeah it would still useful to have the discussion and illustrate their crimes and to have the record of it.
Correct. Israel would be embarrassed if the evidence shows it has been using white phosphorus (WP) illegally since Israel denies it. Also, Israel's actions in Lebanon are now included in the Iran deal. Israel's illegal use of WP would get sympathy for Iran.
Are you a troll or what?
What's wrong with suggesting that the UN investigate? Meghan Markle says she is the most trolled person in the world. Her only offense is marrying Prince Harry.
The usa may join lol. The usa is still defending israel and refuse to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza. Like people also said it is already confirmed that israel use it
Things have changed. Iran is tying Israel's activities in Lebanon to a peace deal.
Still waiting for sanctions on Israel and blocking all aids to it
You have a long wait. The US won't go along. The US is already considering fusing its weapons development with Israel.
Oh. So you are a troll. Great thanks.
Trump hasn't had any sane explanation for anything he has done this term. He doesn't care. He just mumbles some gibberish and attacks the next country.
Even if he doesn't care, he would still have to explain the reason he is not condemning Israel for illegally using white phosphorus.
You seem to have been misinformed about how things work in this world. Maybe try reading some newspapers.
lol what is that going to do to a fascist imperialistic madman? It's like Chuck Schumer's "strongly worded letters" to Trump
It would be embarrassing to Israel since they deny using it against the rules of the Geneva Convention.
What's embarrassing is that the country trying to be a Jewish ethnostate is committing genocide. If that is not embarrassing enough, a violation of the Geneva convention definitely won't be worse for them.
Both would be embarrassing but proving the illegal use of white phosphorus would be easier.
I CONDENM THANOS!
Perhaps if the UN confirms that Israel has been using White Phosphorus in violation of Geneva Convention rule, the Avengers could be assembled.
fuck the avengers this is a job for the x-men
Yes, from looking at the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Spider-Man and the Hulk will be busy.
Its been reported 1000s of times for decades. Israel doesn't deny it's use either, they just lie about the purpose of it's use.
Majority of countries have signed onto international agreements to not use it during war because of how detrimental it is.
Israel uses it on civilian populations but lies about its battle use to get away with harming civilians and the growing fields that they depend on.
Edit: And to beat you to the hollow response, its been reported by the UN and the Human Rights Watch (UN Partners)

https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/10/12/israel-white-phosphorus-used-gaza-lebanon
dammit phosphorous is too good a fertilizer to waste it on war crimes what the fuck
Have it brought to the UN Security Council for discussion.
Lol, dolt
It's true, there were videos of it a few months ago. They've been using it for a long time
A UN report would have more weight.
