Look, The Economist, if you want to stop the rise of socialism in the imperial core all you have to do is improve quality of life for the masses! It's a really easy thing to do, just dial back wealth inequality a bit and you'll have another 100 years of the Burgerreich. Surely if this is such a problem the bourgeois would be willing to part with a tiny portion of their hoards?
There was a brief window where they did this, and they're still seething about it generations later. Just the idea of it is an affront to them.
Their own (half)-century of humiliation.
To do so would require bourgeois acknowledgement of the proletariat as human. Therefore, it is impossible.
