But, to be clear, I was referring to the hypothetical episode I made up in my alcoholic adhd brain the moment I read that comment where Goku interprets the title of “prom king” as a powerful galactic warrior, and as he moves at super godlike stupid speed, at this senior high school aged teenager, the boy suddenly explodes, as his soft human physique is susceptible to physics (unlike that of Saija-Jin), and the crowd is horrified. In the aftermath, where nobody dare confront Goku due to his literally ungodly ability to destroy life, other than his wife. Chi-Chi breaks down.

She fell in love with a guardian. Someone who would quite literally die, again and agin, to save the galaxy. He would, literally, move mountains to protect her. To protect everyone. It tuns out, she just fell in love with a psychopath. A man who was too violet, too stupid, to know the difference between a threat and a food fight. A man who couldn’t know, couldn’t learn, anything beyond the fight. Anything beyond the pursuit of more power.

That’s all there was. More power.

She didn’t trust Goku to ever be able to know better. She didn’t trust Goku to be able to learn better. After seeing the horror on the faces of those around him, after exploding a young man, seeing his true power outlined in the relativity of what everyone else on earth existed in, watching what it means to be be a literal god trying to touch a mortal, he thought himself that of zeus, flocking and existed in joy amongst mortals, but he now saw himself as a bastardized Yahweh, all he had chosen to be is a force of competition and destruction, seeking the needs only of his pugilists desires, destroying all that he interacted with, a force of unrestricted power and destruction with no Metatron. On his own he saw, for the first time, he saw that his hand only wrought destruction, and sought to be softer. Safer. Something that could be trusted to hold and not to crush, a force of creation and building. For the first time he understood himself and the power within him as a force of creation, protection, and a power to move things with the intention only to help, to live a live that means more than fighting. Fighting for yet another fight. An endless effort to become an even more powerful force of endless destruction in a universe already overflowing with as much. he could be more than violence. Godhood was detached. He found himself seeing how he could use his power to truly help, and he wept. He understood. He knew his sins, truly and for the first time, fully, and chose to be better.

He returned home with a plan, but all plans only survive until they make contact with reality.

Chi-Chi was there, looking him in the eyes, her judgment and her intention was clear; I did this to hurt you Goku, since nothing else could. I did this to make you understand.

In the center of the room, from the center support beam, from a silk scarf, hung Chi-Chi. Pale. Judgemental. Knowing. Eyes open. looking at him as a monster. Looking at him as what he was.

Rage became him, letting go, the end would be soon and complete for everything, but never for him. He would become the end, the end of his mistakes and anyone ever repeating them, once and for all…
