Am I alone in thinking its weird to not have armpit hair?

[-] lifeinlarkhall@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

The thing is body hair has a purpose but aesthetics has taken over that. I don't think it's weird either way to keep it or shave/wax it. Everyone has it because it's the way the human body is designed and like everything else on our bodies, we get to choose what to do with it 🤷‍♀️

Personally I shave mine because my pits start smelling quickly when the hair gets to like 5 CM or so. Despite using a decent antiperspirant.

I don't keep it super short though and give zero ducks what other people do with theirs.

Should probably clarify. Personally my the view each their own long as your not doing it to please someone else. I was just making a flippant comment. I do apologise to anyone however that may have felt uncomfortable or targeted. Personal note tho not out of trying alot of folk i have been in relationships dont shave and i was more kinda shocked they are still having this convo in pop entertianment media land.

(dude here) Same. My pits smell pretty badly after a whole day in hot weather if they're sporting bushes.

Also... yuck. I don't know, I just don't like hair anywhere other than the head + eyebrows + eyelashes. If there was a magical procedure that eliminates 100% of all the other body hair forever, I'd go for it without a second thought. We really don't need it since the invention of clothing.

But it's quite slow, and needs multiple sessions. I mean, they're going hair-by-hair.

Oh damn, I never heard about this! Cheers, I'll look into it!

Am I alone thinking anyone should care if someone has armpit hair?

[-] Flower@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

Beauty standards say body hair is seen as masculine, so to appear feminine all body hair must be removed. Beauty standards don't care if things are natural, healthy or practical.

I think it's weird as fuck to care if someone has or not

No. It’s fucking weird.
