God please tell me we aren't, please I know we are already doing terrible things but landmines are just terrible and they maim civilians, children with legs blown off.

Anyone who still supports this administration is a fool or a monster.

you think that an administration that loves raping kids and kidnapping brown people wouldn't target civilians?

[-] hesh@quokk.au 39 points 2 days ago

They started the war by bombing school girls, so..

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 days ago

It is so fucking painful to have my existence tainted — without any direct recourse — by these... taints.

[-] TransNeko@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

man I wish that we had a vigilante group of our own.

[-] Pollo_Jack@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Some sort of posse, but for hanging criminals instead of random black kids. This still happens in the south, google it.

Our regime seems to be using Israel’s perpetration of the Gaza genocide as a playbook now.

So glad we dodged Harris being a warmonger or whatever… /s

I like your optimism. If you want to, I can pat your head and tell you everything's going to be alright.

To be fair, at least they're using the variety that relies on a battery to detonate. The battery is only anticipated to last 40 days.

Cluster munitions are obviously horrible, but at least we're harming civilians as little as possible? I don't know. I'm trying to put a cherry spin on a turd sandwich. Fuck Trump.

[-] athatet@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 days ago

“I’m trying to put a spin…”

Yeah but why? They really don’t need people trying to run defense for them.

[-] superglue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

It looks like they are also anti tank mines? I guess I dont know a lot about them but I dont think they will go off if a civilian steps on one. That said, still fuckedz and someone innocent will probably still die.

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

The article mentions that they will explode if they detect their "orientation" has changed significantly - which is what happened when someone reportedly picked on up and it exploded, killing them.

Sooooo...... sounds like they're better than they could be, but are still pretty inhumane to drop in civilian areas.

[-] joekar1990@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Until they start adopting the Israeli line of we were targeting insurgents in the area hidden among the civilian population.

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

You think they just now started with this?

I mean, this "administration" is the worst, but not the first to start using land mines
