Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

ICE just murdered that lady government just lying about it and people getting more and more disgusted. I had a feeling this was gonna ramp up before too long. I don't quite know where it ends but part of me is relieved that people see the violence of the system so boldly. Also hopefully realizing how feckless democrats are, Walz could do something but nah Republicans were mean to him so he's gonna step down as people from his state are being murdered. Even if Trump started rounding up Democrats and offing them these fucks are so used to rolling over I doubt they could muster up anything.

I want to believe that thing that pushes people over the line, but it also just feels like too many of the people who do care about this are also too easily coopted by the Democrats no matter how many times they show themselves to be feckless fucks. Look at how BLM got coopted by the Democrats back in 2020 only for them to start saying shit like "defund the police" is too controversial. Shit, anyone with some semblance of object permanence should remember how hard Dem candidates were going into increasing funding for the police and securing our borders. Not that I want to be a doomer or even "realistic". Maybe I can have just a little revolutionary optimism. Every event like this is an event were more people wake up to our realities.
If not this one the next one where they get more and more brutal, news doesn't really know how to spin it just yet. When the genocide happens overseas it's easy for Americans to ignore it but daily in their towns then shit is gonna be too much.
If they did this to the woman you can imagine what they doing to the migrants especially the ones reported missing.
Yup the brutality is there it's just easy for whites here to stomach it since shipping them over seas means less a chance to see
