Donald Trump lashed out on Wednesday against a New York Times reporter, calling her “ugly inside and out” in his latest personal insult against female members of the media after last week calling another “piggy”.

In a Truth Social post, Trump criticized the newspaper for an article suggesting he was running low on energy in his 80th year, insisting he had “never worked so hard in my life”.

When you're an orange, demented, chronically ill fat fuck, I bet even wiping your ass might feel like the hardest work you've done in your life.

I can't go a single day without hearing about this fascist kiddie fiddler.

3 more years to go!

Fuck. Me.

People still believe he's leaving power after his term is up?

He was voted out last time and tried to launch an insurrection. He's a lot more entrenched now.

There's absolutely no way this bloated skin sack lives another 3 years.

I'm not going to speculate on his health. I will, however, say that there was a conspiracy theory going around when Biden was elected that two years and one day into his term he'd mysteriously die so that the Dems could install the first female president who could be president for the next two years plus two terms.

Now I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but I've noticed a lot of things that they accuse the Democrats of they are actually doing. Will we get president Vance in a year and change, who would still be eligible? Could he reverse enough of the publicly batshit insane policies (while leaving in the quietly batshit insane ones that fuck us over for decades) to win support from low information voters?

I actually don't believe this, but every time someone says Trump is gonna die I remember how adamant some Republicans were that iden would die and they'd have to deal with 10 years of being bossed around by a woman.

Would Vance just get to to continue be president for the remaining term? The more I learn about the US system, the more I realise how dumb it is. Why are there no new elections when the president dies? Vice president should only take over during the transition...

[-] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

Yes. So here's how it works. The vice president is the backup president. If the president is out the VP is sworn in. If the VP serves more than half a term it counts as a term. If less, it doesn't count and they can still serve two full terms afterwards.

[-] ctrl_alt_esc@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago

Thanks for the explanation! Why is it like this though? The people voted for the president, not the vice president, so why aren't there new elections?

[-] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

So it's because originally people did vote for the vice president. It's left over from before the 12th amendment. So part of your vote is for the line of succession.

I'm not terribly happy with it, but of all the things wrong it's way down on the list of things I'm not happy about.

Our presidential election is on a set schedule and never changes. I'm not thrilled about that either because there's no real way for the people to recall a jackass. And as the current jackass has shown, the position is really just an elected king that's kicked out in a few years.
