Looks like redditors have discovered that /r/AskSocialists was taken over by the ACP. But then posts criticizing them have been getting deleted in /r/socialism, too, so seems they're also in there. Since /r/thedeprogram was shut down it doesn't seem good for the left on reddit, although at least a bunch of people are aware of the issue now.

It's going to be impossible to moderate because it's like big-tent-ish and quasi-marxist so they don't want to have to moderate that hard. On top of the botting and astroturfing that's overwhelmed Reddit at this point. Any time Russia-Ukraine or Palestine-Israel get mentioned you're getting at least a handful of accounts responding to it. China and Uyghurs used to be like this too until I guess USAID funding dropped and/or they moved on to China-Taiwan talking points.

It's a losing battle unless you specifically censor certain opinions, i.e. democratic centralism, which that looseknit conspiracy crowd of cats isn't going to do. And then still get banned by Reddit after awhile anyway.

It's why I really hope Lemmy/Hexbear start thinking of good ways to counter bots and shit in the future.

idk so far it feels like the overt liberalism always gets called out. i kinda prefer it that way bc i mostly go on reddit to get into arguments tbh. reddit is like a huge c/slop

lemmygrad and hexbear have manual vetting at least. there might have to be some defederation at some point too but i kinda feel like botting communist websites is a dead end as far as psyops go. i guess maybe they'll try to turn us into trots lol
