VANCE I think it tells you that they're bad people. ... If you mistreat dogs, that's almost a 100% sign that you're a going to be a really terrible person.

Iirc it doesn't. There's differing reasons for why Freddy Krueger becomes what he is depending on the continuity but killing animals never comes up.
