Bras suck
I've gained weight (unsurprisingly) and had to buy some new bras and holy shit, I have never been so uncomfortable in a bra in my life. I'm about to take it off at my desk, I can't stand wearing this fucking thing.A bad bra is a bad bad thing.
Have you used the A Bra That Fits calculator? I've never really worn bras in my life because of sensory issues, but usually wear 'crop top bras' instead. I cannot stand jeans, short tops, shirring, it's that bad.
After using that calculator, I got a couple of bras that fit when they were on sale. The Berlei ones without wire are quite good, and I also got some with wire for more fitted tops.
When I cbf wearing a bra, which is most days, I wear something similar to these.
That's what I wear. Super comfy.
No, I actually haven't!! I really should. Am hoping that this, uh, growth spurt can be dealt with, but should definitely do that in the mean time.
Damn… can you go somewhere and get fitted?
spoiler
I’m also finding it really hard to find good options
This isn’t a weird passive aggressive dig or anything but maybe try maternity bras. They can have features that are more comfortable like a more adjustable band, wire free, and sometimes wider straps.
May I plug the A Bra That Fits calculator!! I got a size that I wouldn't even think to try on, and it fit more or less perfectly. Also bra extenders are great.
The big department stores sometimes have a bra fitter on staff and you can book an appointment for a fitting. Also some lingerie shops like Bendon etc. Yes, it's a specialised trade.
I'm serious about getting a professional fitter to find your size. Apparently more than half of all women of all ages are wearing the wrong size/shape/cup size. I got a fitting done years ago, and it made a huuuuuuge difference in comfort and support. Yes it costs but it's worth it - if only to relieve back pain and neck pain and tension headaches.
Could tell some stories from when I worked with a bloke who was a travelling salesman in ladies lingerie back in the 1950s - hoo boy did he have some yarns to tell. Specially about when the ladies of the illegal brothels in mining towns were escorted by their pimps to Georges or Myers to stock up on professional outfits ...
Oooh that would have been amazing to hear the stories he had!! So cool!
Thinking I'll go to Brava or the likes over the weekend and get properly fitted.
