It's not his fault though. It's due to all the techno-optimist propaganda spouted out by various media channels by the techbros and the people profiting off of fossil fuels.

Yah. In my youth I was hopeful of tech saving us. But now seems very unlikely. Just like AI. it's not going to save us it's going to make some people very rich.
