The better to see you with - motion parallax in young owls
Owls are not really able to move their eyes in their sockets*, so they have to move their entire heads in a somewhat exaggerated manner to change their field of view. This bobbing and head-swaying motion is called motion parallax, and it helps birds (not just owls) more accurately judge distances.

haven't seen it, but the plot description is interesting. there was a time in the 1970s/80s where some big movies had pretty subversive plots.
there's a 1989 political thriller flick (The Package) with Gene Hackman and Tommy Lee Jones where basically a Gladio type conspiracy unfolds. here's a scene from early in the movie.
I watched it a few years ago in some streamer and it holds up surprisingly well for what it is.
I'll check that out.
It's a fascinating film. And the sort that Hollywood doesn't even try to make anymore - a clever, artistic thriller. There's a fantastic "montage" scene that's best not to read about if you're going to watch the film. In fact - it's probably best to know as little as possible about the film.
