It does exist, but it's just another flu-like virus
It's much worse than the flu, but it only affected other people so far, so it won't affect me

I have a normies sentiment like your dad. I've seen a few posts on Lemmy about covid cases in the US but haven't heard about the cases in Europe. I'm sure they exist though, just not talked about
