No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials or celebrity gossip is allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis.

7. No duplicate posts.

If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners.

The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Summary

Harvard announced that, starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, it will not charge tuition for students from families earning under $200,000.

Students from households making less than $100,000 will attend for free. Previously, free tuition applied only to families earning under $85,000.

The expansion aims to make Harvard more accessible to middle-income families.

This follows similar moves by other wealthy universities, including MIT, which expanded its financial aid last November.

And what stops every student from saying that they're on their own? I came here with a simple and logical question. I expect answers, not sarcasm.

They will ask you for your taxes for previous years that shows you as being on your own. There are teens that do get emancipated from the parents before 18, which they also have to show they can live and support themselves.

FAFSA, don't know if it will continue to be alive since these assholes are destroying everything will ask you these questions. California also had a CCC program that use to help with getting free college. If so depends on your state as well.

Every student could apply for parent-independent support. There are processes from other countries to learn from.
