As to that specific point, Anakin is a young child at this point and didn't really see what was happening with the gambling and the fate of his mother.

I think the second episode Anakin finding contradictions like the handwaving away of slavers in another society to work with the elite would be compelling world building. It would add weight to killing Duku because he's had enough of the bullshit.

But you'd have to reimagine the sith and his downfall to get a consistent narrative out of it. Sith aren't a good allegory for slippery fascists if memory serves. They're more like the fire nation while it's evil in Avatar. They endlessly seek passion and whoever is strongest is right. If Anakin is to become the strongest sith, it's not by virtue of a series of principals, it's by being the edgiest, most fucked up guy. So if he had disagreements with the Jedi, he'd be manipulated superficially before he let his love for Padme overwhelm his good nature.

Anakin might benefit from a good foil in a principled gray Jedi. During his downfall he's presented with Watto's head and a note from now dead Mom. The gray Jedi had a premonition about an insidious evil blossoming into barbarism. Therefore they want to join forces so they can root out injustice that feckless Jedi let fester. This urge is hand waved away by the chancellor "that's not going to save Padme, you're giving up on love/they're not organized, they just want to go do adventurism."

Post-younglings you have an excuse for another lightsaber fight with this foil and Anakin really gets spurned by contradictions. Not only is Padme shocked about killing the younglings, internally he's like "killing Watto was good actually, am I becoming a monster just because I love someone?! No, everyone else is wrong! Only I can hold this world together... Is that Padme coming to the lava planet?"

I'm surprised he came out of that without either a gambling addiction or vendetta against gambling.
