Is this slavery apologia? Are you really saying that watto taught a child skills and therefore is allowed to use his labor? That's how this comes off it's pretty fucked up

It's an argument that episode 1 was badly written

Just to further clarify cause I really don't wanna be misread as a pro slavery guy or a pro watto guy, I'll elaborate. I can get where I may have come off that way in retrospect.

The slavery apologia is part of the text, watto isn't treated as a serious villain. He's treated as a comical mid movie minor antagonist. I don't think watto taught anakin anything cause if he had those technical skills he wouldn't need anakin. So I guess the force just teaches you engineering which I guess means Yoda could be building each jedi a gundam but chooses not to. Connections to the force equating to engineering knowledge without bothering to learn stuff is bad writing prequel stuff. That then raises, when did watto buy anakin if he did buy anakin or did he just buy his mom and then the Virginia birth happened? What use was Shmee in his junk store and if anakin had shown his technician skills before being bought as a duo by watto why did he buy her as well? Aside from doing some customer service work the slavery and the brief mention of the bomb implants that anakin seems very cavalier about and the film seems to gloss over as fast as possible and anakin's conditions on tattooin being shown on screen as being pretty fucking okay, he's shown doing a light amount of work once and then he has a meal with guests, shows off the amazing robot and podracer he's built in his free time, the movie itself decides to never depict his slavery as any more than a part time job, the kids in Bob's burgers are subjected to the level thst is shown in the movie. The phantom menace does slavery apologia, I am not here to praise Watto, the fictional slave owner offensive stereotype to at least one if not several ethnic groups, he kinda covers a lot. I am not Watto sympathetic. I'm saying the movie is
