Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color

Why is the title different?

We like to have fun here.

What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.

What are the basic rules of the community?

  1. Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

  2. This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

  3. Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.

  4. No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.

  5. Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

Hello em poc comrades! Today I bring a quote from the Samidoun Network on the ceasefire in Gaza and the hostage exchange, the "Flood of the Free".

Our strength and our unity comes from standing together against repression, and for liberation, not in allowing our enemies to cut us off from one another through a politics that seeks accommodation within genocidal imperialism, self-censorship and subordination. It is, at the core, the armed resistance, the Palestinian prisoners, and of course, the people of Gaza, who exposed Zionism and imperialism and brought down all of their military objectives, who are opening the doors of freedom for the heroic prisoners of the cause of Palestine, and who promise a Palestinian future that will be determined only by the people and not by its occupiers, invaders and enemies. This is an indelible stamp and a historical moment upon the road to liberation and return for all of Palestine, brought ever closer.

And from RNN Prisoners:

The current exchange deal, “Flood of the Free,” represents a milestone in our struggle and an added victory to the long march of liberation, affirming that the will for freedom is stronger than all the jailer’s chains.

Long Live Palestine! From the River to the Sea!

As always, this thread is em poc only.

I have to admit, I was feeling down and angry yesterday that this racist was inaugurated for his second term and the Buddy in Chief was Seig Heiling his dead loser of a leader's memory on MLK Day. As someone else on Hexbear said, MLK warned us about White moderates so many years ago and called it. But we goose stepped into this regardless and it's sad how history can intersect through time on a day honoring him like this.

I don't care about the institutions that liberals shed tears for, but I was worried about the coming dangers for so many of us. Some of the immediate executive orders also made me feel like it's only going to get rougher. I know we already lived in the Fourth burgerReich but I do think it will escalate and some of us will be forced to leave. Felt sad that so many people side against their own interests for the benefit of the fascistic elite, despite so many hundreds of years of workers fighting and dying for them to gain even a little consciousness. Then again, I don't regret not supporting Biden/Harris because they didn't deserve support either but libs won't understand that. As long as Palestinians had even a few days of reprieve, I think it's worth it. In truth, I was pissed at libs for enabling and allowing this to happen as MLK almost predicted. They'll blame us for not casting a symbolic, meaningless vote but they are the ones to blame for this.

Anyway, it's not good revolutionary practice but I took a gummy and watched a film and felt much better. We'll deal with it as it comes but, unfortunately, no organizations are actually ready for it if/when it turns violent. Wish you comrades here in the empire the best once the violence turns inward again. I'm going to set up a go-bag and some other stuff.
