Boomer shooters are hit and miss for me but I adored Dusk. From the horror setting to the gameplay it was super enjoyable to me. I didnt really click with the others I have tried so far which to be fair was only Amid Evil so far.
I'm sort of chasing the dragon after having a blast with Prodeus and Turbo Overkill. It's very hit and miss with me too. I thought I was gonna like Amid Evil but it really wasn't clicking. Dusk has been fun so far.
Yeah I envy folks who just like most shooters. In my case I loved Doom 2016 but I really didnt vibe with Doom Eternal seemed like such a cool game as well. Like I legit cant say if I will enjoy a shooter until I have played it for a bit. Shooters arent one of my main gernes though.
Eternal tried too hard to escalate from 2016 imo, to the point where all the special weaknesses and resources I had to keep in mind while also playing a very fast shooter just left me mentally exhausted after a single level.
I was almost gonna pick Eternal up but was hesitant about the game size and was waffling, then read a negative review that was basically what you said. The thing I liked about 2016 was that it was mostly just mindless mayhem the entire time. I don't want my mindless mayhem to feel like a chore lol.
