The good news is that (obviously extremely anecdotally) most people I saw it with only took home the message of the first part of the movie, where the US were infinitely worse than the "terrorists" they claimed to be fighting.
I must have come from a much more colonialist-brained part of the country, because I heard a lot more "dicks also fuck assholes" edgy metaphors to justify colonialism.
