Ouch, I've been through the scanning machine multiple times and they just end up using a hand-held metal detectors most of the time. A couple times they did exactly what you described at it was really as degrading as you said. Sorry you have to go through that, the TSA is a joke and basically there to make everyone **feel **safe. They haven't passed a security test yet AFAIK.
