to add on there of course are several other factors. FGC tournaments being in person also makes it so that artists also interact with the community, so that in person interations arent overwhelmingly male to male. It also helps that of the existing locals for FGC scenes, many of them takes place on college campus', which generally speaking, is more left leaning.

Speaking from my experiences as I used to host melee games at a local community college.
