Please don't make me go to the chess communities on Reddit and main Lemmy.

Requesting c/organise - a place for people to discuss strategies, case studies and methods for socialist organisation in their villages, towns and cities.

Looking to figure out how to put your leftist policies into practice in your own specific IRL community? This will be an online space to discuss how to go about it.

Want to share how you managed to organise a successful protest? Leftist book club? Fundraiser? Political party? Lobby for political change? Soup kitchen? I would love for you to be able to share your experiences on this community for people around the world to implement it to their own social circles.

Looking for ways to disseminate helpful educational information for the general public to be on board with certain policies? My hope for this online community is to also discuss ways to spread this information to people in in-real-life communities in order to spur mobilisation for change.

Heard of a successful socialist political party's story and how they managed to influence their own community? This would be a place to share with people willing to hear.

I would love to get people together to discuss how to do the aforementioned. I was hoping there could also be a pinned megathread of common Q&As around organising, and we could even come up with a step by step process on what to do for specific methods.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you guys think. Also, my apologies if this has alrwady been proposed as an idea lol.

a place to document hate-speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse.

if you don't know what a Tankie is you might find this page helpful, alternatively, there's this detailed blog post about Tankies (caution of bias)

i think there being another version of the comm would be useful so that lemmy users on instances not federated with shitjustworks (where the original is hosted) will still be made aware of the rising danger of the alt left on lemmy (and maybe even on other social media sites, depending on whether we decide that the comm should branch out at some point from just focusing on lemmy based authoritarian apologists).

We have a c/Sino for China posting. We need a c/Soviet for Soviet Union posting. Art, decor, infrastructure, technology, space race, maps, great patriotic war history, literature... There's a lot to be said. Please make it happen.

I will be a moderator if no one else wants to.

that's it, that's the comm

58

I don't mind being the mod but if there's some one more qualified I'm happy for someone else to mod too.

I am asking for a community like r/submitted in Reddit

Hello all,

I think there is enough interest in theatre to start up a comm about it. See this post for details as to why it's a good idea:

https://hexbear.net/post/718079

And there's also little enough interest that I think it wouldn't take a lot of modding.

I'd mod, and @climatechangeanxiety said they could be up to mod, but honestly I think modding that sub will be akin to detectives eating donuts on shift for the whole shift. Easy and chill.

The only question is:

Is it theatre, or theater?

In my eyes it's 'Theatre', but I understand if the Americans need to be accommodated with 'Theater'.

But then again most AES States probably say 'Theatre'... but then again the reason they say theatre is because the Spaniards and the French forced the word upon them...

does it matter which way around we do it?

it would be genuinely great as a bit and also as a honeypot for misogynistic dude bros who couldn’t get over their bullshit. similar to men with irrational hatred for PSL.

more context is from this c/fediverse post about creating more welcoming spaces for women online: https://hexbear.net/comment/3970936

Here is a longer essay I wrote on how Taylor Swift is secretly a dengist (complimentary): https://hexbear.net/post/629974

—-

C/TAYLORSWIFT IS HERE MY BABES & SWIFTIES!!

—-

obligatory copypasta:

Taylor Swift is more than a musician. she is the voice of a generation. She is an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself.

When people told me they hated Taylor Swift or (far worse) that they were "not swifties," I wish I had said in no uncertain terms: "I love Taylor Swift. I am in awe of her. I am set free by her. She will be the finest worldwide superstar our galaxy has ever seen."

I wish, in those exchanges, I had not asked gentle, tolerant questions about a hater's ridiculous allergy to her, or Taytay’s fictional misdeeds and imagined character flaws. More deeply still, I wish I had not reasoned with anyone, patiently countered their ludicrous emotionalism and psychologically disturbed theories.

I wish I had said, flatly, "I love her. I am gay as fuck for Taylor Swift. I am a big fat dyke for Gaylor.” As if I had been asked about my girlfriend or Fletcher. No defensiveness or polemics; not dignifying the crazy allegations with so much as a Gawker or PinkNews link.

Potential comm rules:

  1. Post must be about taylor swift
  2. No sexualizing / objectifying
  3. Photos of Taylor Swift with socialist quotes overtop of them are encouraged (especially if feminism related)
  4. Gaylor speculation welcome.

Another poster mentioned it 2 years back here but I'm wondering if anyone else is interested in this? Could be a catch all for all things comics but not manga, or allow manga too, either or.

I'm already a mod to /c/traaaaaaannnns. I'll be the mod for this too

I also don't even know how many As and Ns it is and I doubt anybody does either

This would be really useful to grow the comm, especially the ex r/traa users

Can we get c/pets (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Everybody likes showing off their furry (or feathery or scaly) buddies and everyone loves looking at pictures of cute animals. We'd probably get to see a bunch more if we had a com just for that. Plus then all the pictures of Biggs could go in one place!

Should be a supper easy com to mod so I'd be happy to help if need be.

This site has actually got some history now, and a bunch of new comrades joining since federation.

Might be nice to have a place to point people to see what we're all about, the defining moments, the self-mythololoy, the best bits, etc.

68

This would be a community to post photos of animals (snakes wearing ushankas, indoor cats etc.), talk about pets, that sort of thing. It would be distinguished from /c/Earth by focusing on mainly domestic animals rather than wild ones, but I wouldn't be opposed to having it include them as well.

I thought we had one but it's not loading so I guess we don't.

/r/rojava was banned on Reddit a while back

a dedicated place for good faith questions for those who don't have all the answers

71

Could also be /c/hello, /c/introduction, etc. Whatever sounds best.

So anyways, this is a community that is on blahaj which I thought was a great idea. I was planning on making a post there until the recent stuff happened, but honestly it might be better to have a similar community here anyways.

It would serve 2 purposes in my mind:

  1. Give people a very visible platform to introduce themselves and discuss hobbies and interests that would be less likely to show up or would be less visible in conversation elsewhere. Could be games, books, anime, Gunpla kits, interest in learning a language, making fursuits, or whatever else.

  2. Give a welcome and safe place for cool people from other instances who want to say hello and make friends here. This community has been up for 3 years now, and of course has its own lore, in-jokes, etc. that might be a little intimidating for newcomers who are shy. This would be a place to break through that and get to know people better.

Thoughts?

This is the final phase of the opposition party's coup of [email protected]. Since I declare myself acting head mod, giving me mod powers should be relatively straightforward.

it would be really funny to make one not run by radlibs. i'll help mod it, but need more trans ppl.

74

only a third of our site is trans? those are rookie numbers.

im specifically requesting a community with name recognition so that we can promote it as a non-corporate trans community, and the goal is to have days where we go to reddit to pick trans people up and deposit them here. i also hope to dig into the /r/traa post history, find the top posters and most active members, and drag them here. totally down to discuss tactics to undermine reddit and pull as many users here as possible

We all need a break from the Protracted People's Posting War from time to time.

I'm proposing a No-Bad-Takes-Zone safe space, where we can just post whatever and not have to deal with Lost Wandering Redditors bringing their gross brainworms in with them. A com with strict moderation and zero tolerance for bigotry, basically pre-federation levels enforcement of site rules and judicious use of the banhammer.

Like, I'm talking about not even getting a chance for posters to debate them, just straight upstfu-terf
