  • Farmers in a cacao-producing region of southwestern Côte d’Ivoire have seen their yields decline so much that they’re abandoning their plantations and considering switching to other crops.
  • They say cacao, long a mainstay of the agricultural economy of this region and the country, is no longer profitable due to changing weather patterns and an increase in plant diseases like swollen shoot.
  • An agronomist says the changing weather is partly due to deforestation caused by the expansion of cacao production in recent decades, and recommends agroforestry and reforestation as a remedy.

Sometimes (like today) I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet, but will be unable to sleep after. If I wake up at 4 or 5 am I usually just continue with my usual routine of exercising at 630, but today I woke up at 230 and couldn't sleep since because of an ache near my right hip and tautness in the right foot (maybe sciatica?). I don't feel particularly tired, but I sense I'll probably get a headache in the afternoon regardless of whether I manage to sleep again (usually happens after a night with interrupted sleep)

On Thursday, OpenAI announced the addition of shopping features to ChatGPT Search. The new feature allows users to search for products and purchase them through merchant websites after being redirected from the ChatGPT interface. Product placement is not sponsored, and the update affects all users, regardless of whether they've signed in to an account.

Adam Fry, ChatGPT search product lead at OpenAI, showed Ars Technica's sister site Wired how the new shopping system works during a demonstration. Users researching products like espresso machines or office chairs receive recommendations based on their stated preferences, stored memories, and product reviews from around the web.

According to Wired, the shopping experience in ChatGPT resembles Google Shopping. When users click on a product image, the interface displays multiple retailers like Amazon and Walmart on the right side of the screen, with buttons to complete purchases. OpenAI is currently experimenting with categories that include electronics, fashion, home goods, and beauty products.

I've seen several posts of people asking for advice on situations like this with so many answers suggesting OP to fight back, document and contact the union, but this seems too much work for an unconvincing result, because there is no way a manager is going to fire an employee or a clique for a "he claims she claims" situation.

Manager, employer, even the union, will listen to you, play theatrics and change nothing hoping you forget.

Walking away, while making you feel like a loser, seems to be the sane choice long term. Cliques are gonna clique.

Maybe you can think of a better way?

Some salacious stuff in the article, including:

The plaintiff claims that, once they got to her place, Sharpe forced her to perform oral sex on him and then raped her anally after telling her that he would punish her “a**hole” and “make it so that no man will want you again.”

The first clinical trial to test whether adults with peanut allergies can be desensitized has shown great success—with two-thirds of participants able to consume the equivalent of five peanuts at the end of the study without reacting.

Known as oral immunotherapy, the approach has been successful in infants and children worldwide, but this first-of-its-kind study—the Grown Up Peanut Immunotherapy trial—shows adults can benefit too.

Today, Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) introduced articles of impeachment against Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, citing a sweeping abuse of power, flagrant violations of the Constitution, and acts of tyranny that undermine American democracy and threaten the rule of law.

"Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as President and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s constitution and our democracy," said Rep. Thanedar. "His unlawful actions have subverted the justice system, violated the separation of powers, and placed personal power and self-interest above public service. We cannot wait for more damage to be done. Congress must act."

The resolution includes seven articles of impeachment outlining a range of constitutional violations.
