You can't have a post like this and then wonder "Why do so many men go to the right?"

Maybe men are sick of being painted with a broad brush. We all have our own thoughts, beliefs and feelings.

I find it increasingly hard to tell the difference between a mastermind playing 7D chess with the world, and someone just acting randomly and implementing all kinds of policies at a whim.

In today's political landscape, it's hard not to notice the growing divide and the erosion of informed discourse. As we navigate these turbulent times, I can't help but wonder: Have we reached a tipping point where ignorance has become the norm? Are we so far down the road that the public is ill-equipped to counter the latest governmental abuses?

It seems like the powers that be have successfully convinced many that losing is winning. The erosion of trust in institutions and the rise of misinformation can leave one questioning if we're collectively stuck in a cycle of intellectual stagnation.

Let's unpack this a bit:

  • Media Influence: The media plays a crucial role in shaping public perception. However, with the rise of clickbait and sensationalism, the quality of information available has deteriorated. This makes it harder for individuals to discern credible sources from those pushing agendas.
  • Historical Context: Looking back, periods of significant change have often been met with resistance and misinformation. The current era isn't unique in this aspect, but the speed at which information spreads today amplifies these challenges.
  • Public Engagement: The shift towards more polarized debates can stifle open dialogue. When discussion becomes a battleground of talking points rather than fact-based exploration, it's harder to foster understanding.
  • Intellectual curiosity: Encouraging critical thinking is essential. Without it, individuals risk being swayed by narratives that don't hold up under scrutiny.

So, while the situation seems dire, there's still room for hope. The challenge lies in recognizing our role as participants in shaping the narrative. We can choose to engage thoughtfully, seek out diverse perspectives, and remain curious.

Let's not lose sight of the power we hold in our collective intellect. By fostering critical thinking and a commitment to understanding, we can navigate these challenges and find our way back to a more informed public discourse.

In news that surprises absolutely no one, the makers of the infamous Humane AI Pin—a device that was overpriced, underwhelming, and widely returned—have been acquired by HP.

As expected, this acquisition effectively bricks existing AI Pins. According to the press release, some features will still work, such as checking the battery level. Incredible.

The real kicker? The people behind this spectacular failure are getting a massive payday from HP. Meanwhile, customers who dropped $700+ (plus a monthly fee!) on this glorified paperweight are left in the dust.

HP has a long history of acquiring pointless companies, so this doesn’t redeem the AI Pin in any way. If anything, it just reinforces that the product was as worthless as everyone suspected.

I was hoping this saga would end in Humane going bankrupt—not them cashing out. But here we are.

If tariffs cause a rise in US production

This is one of the problems with the Trumpian approach to tariffs. I don't know if you hadn't noticed, but there's remarkably little manufacturing in the USA for quite some time now, but let's play this out.

The cost to set up a laptop manufacturing firm in the US is anywhere from $50,000,000 to $200,000,000. Then, you've gotta acquire all the raw materials and components to assemble the laptops, let's call that another $500,000,000. Then, of course, you've gotta staff the place, and this is in a country where we do not have a lot of people that are experienced in manufacturing. Let's call that another $100,000,000. By the time you add in R&D, logistics costs, legal and compliance (because the US is a bit more stringent than China in this area), you're talking about $1 - $3 BILLION in costs.

Now, out of the few people / companies that have enough money to actually set up a laptop manufacturer in the USA, think about how confident they'd have to be to pull this off. The largest problem is, if you spend your billion dollars and build this factory and then the next week Trump removes the tariff, you're instantly competing with foreign firms again, and you're going to be going under pretty fast.

I'd say this tariff would have to be in place at LEAST 10 years before anyone gets confident enough to spend the massive amount of money and effort quoted above. When you think about how many millions of laptops are going to get sold between now and then, it's pretty clear the American consumer is going to take a huge bath in the meantime.

Like so many things Trump is doing, this tariff is supposed to piss off China but just ends up fucking the consumer. Trump and his billionaire friends don't care if a laptop is an extra $200. That's change they can find under the couch. For your average American trying to make ends meet, that $200 sure as fuck would be useful.

So go ahead, vote Republican to "own the libs". Just don't be surprised when the sudden pain you feel in your wallet is very real.

IT'S OFFICIAL, FOLKS! Trump thinks he can just slap tariffs on our friends abroad and watch us 'compete' again? Newsflash: this only hurts the little guy (and the planet). Just got word from Acer CEO that those tariffs have already led to a 10% price hike for laptops in the US. That's right, we're paying more for the very devices that are supposed to help us succeed in an era of 'American greatness'. Meanwhile, Trump is too busy coddling his corporate pals to care about the real American people. Wake up, sheeple! It's time to stop voting for politicians who only look out for their buddies on Wall Street.

Howdy, a reminder that we live in a market economy. What will happen is that if no one shows up for work at the wage offered to illegal workers, gradually, the rates offered will increase until someone shows. You'll notice America has no shortage of other classes of workers, such as sewer maintenance engineer or garbage collector. The reason is those jobs were never held by illegal workers. Will produce be as cheap as it was before? No, but then again it should not be a fundamental part of our economy to employ illegal workers. Either reform immigration law to allow for migrant workers or get rid of them. This weird middle-ground where we tolerate illegal employment in exchange for subsidized prices for produce is ridiculous. If we wouldn't have allowed this in the first place, the problem would not be so hard to solve today.

I'm baffled by this whole Crisco/shortening candle-in-contraptions meme circulating around. You've got folks shoving these things in everything from copper pots to elaborate sand enclosures, claiming superior heat output and somehow making a case for off-grid energy.

Let's unpack the physics, because frankly, it doesn't add up:

Combustion 101: A candle (or our Crisco-fied iteration) works by burning the fuel source (fat in this case), releasing heat and light through a chemical reaction with oxygen. The material surrounding it doesn't inherently influence this combustion process. Copper, terracotta, or sand won't magically accelerate the burning rate or somehow trap more heat.

Radiation & Conduction: Sure, these materials might hold and radiate a BIT more heat absorbed from the flame compared to open air. But the difference is negligible. Convection (hot air rising) is the primary heat transfer mechanism, and the enclosure doesn't significantly enhance it.

Scaling Up Fallacy: If this contraption truly held the key to efficient off-grid heating, wouldn't we be ditching fuel oil and natural gas entirely? Imagine a skyscraper-sized Crisco candle in a cosmic copper pot - it wouldn't magically solve our energy needs. The heat output wouldn't scale proportionally due to limitations in combustion itself.

In short -- why are people so fascinated with this? A simple test will show that it is not more effective than a simple candle, yet people seem to be continually fascinated by it.

Some people are saying these are either UFOs or a foreign country. I believe that these HAVE to be domestic. Look -- if China/Russia/etc can overfly our most sensitive military bases and our Air Force, etc. doesn't respond, the USA has gotten PUNKED. What is actually happening is you are seeing some sanctioned activity either by a commercial contractor of the Federal government, or you are seeing some secret Air Force tech. The Army, etc will just deny, deny, deny, because they know in a couple of days this will fall out of the news cycle.

I'd be curious to hear people's theories to see if I'm alone in my line of thinking or not.

President Biden's hypocrisy on full display: Pardons his own son after making a point about 'independent' justice"

In a move that's being hailed as a "full and unconditional" pardon, President Joe Biden has announced that he's granting his son Hunter Biden a free pass for all federal charges related to his time between 2014-2024. Just 50 days before leaving office, Biden had previously declared that he wouldn't be making the move, stating he'd abide by the jury's decision. But now, it seems he was just playing a different tune.

TL;DR

President Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden, who was facing up to 25 years in prison for lying on a federal form about his drug addiction. This comes after months of saying he wouldn't make the move, and is being met with criticism from politicians and others who called him out on his earlier stance. A case of "my family is more important than I am" - how about keeping your promises for once?

Stop fucking sane washing him

You'll notice I called him a "total whackjob". I do not say he is sane. However, I wish to criticize what he ACTUALLY said instead of some bombastic caricature of his plan. In no way do I support or endorse RFK, but let's be accurate with our criticism.

Why do people care so much that it’s an app? If it was not an app would everyone have been buying it in droves?

At least part of this is due to a direct quote from the CEO mentioning how they need a VERY bespoke Android version for it to run, which is clearly bullshit because you can run the APK on other devices other than the Rabbit R1 hardware.

Since Rabbit was at least partially funded by the "Cyber Manufacture Co" rug-pull and they suffered NO penalty the CEO has taken this as a sign the market will tolerate his scams. You should view the Rabbit R1 through the lens of it being a former "web3" company and I'm sure the shady legacy remains inside that company.

Since Rabbit sells at $199 and then NO monthly charge, there is basically no viable funding model for this company. Every single request you send the Rabbit costs them money. So, it's only a matter of time before the R1 itself is "rugged", whether that's suddenly requiring a monthly fee OR just shutting down entirely.

My guess would be, like the Humane Pin, they wanted to do a monthly fee, but if they did the R1 would sell even worse (since it's basically entirely broken out of the box). If these guys make it 3 years I'll be surprised. And, since the R1 does nothing locally, it turns into a nice paperweight when these guys eventually pull THIS rug.

In a bizarre turn of events, it seems the reclusive nation of North Korea has finally succumbed to the intense chip envy brought on by China's recent announcement of its approved CPU list. In an effort to keep pace with neighboring rivals, Kim Jong-un ordered the immediate development of a state-of-the-art microchip. And thus, 'The Juche Chip' was born - named after North Korea's philosophy of self-reliance.

After months of hard work, North Korean engineers presented their masterpiece: a CPU so advanced, it can run MS-DOS smoothly on Windows ME. This revolutionary breakthrough in computing technology also boasts an impressive clock speed that's roughly equivalent to the rate at which time moves inside a Pyongyang prison cell. With the Juche Chip, users will never have to worry about lagging, overheating or any other technical issues because their system will freeze before such problems could even arise.

In today’s fast-paced digital world, we often rely on various online platforms to quench our thirst for knowledge, information, and entertainment. Among these platforms, news websites hold a significant position as they allow us to stay updated about current events across the globe. However, despite their essential role in delivering crucial content, many of these sites have resorted to irritating tactics that negatively impact user experience. One such tactic is the automatic playback of videos accompanied by full audio when one opens their webpage.

This practice has become increasingly common among news sites due to the belief that users prefer a multimedia experience over plain text articles. However, there is no empirical evidence to support this assumption. On the contrary, many have raised concerns over these autoplaying videos. These concerns range from audio intrusion into private spaces, lack of control over sound output, to the consumption of data and battery life on mobile devices. The most prominent criticism against this practice stems from the mismatch between the video’s subject matter and the article itself. In other words, these videos are unrelated to the content of the page and often serve solely as advertisements, disruptive interfaces, or attempts at misleading engagement metrics.

Does ANYONE actually like these videos? I typically scramble to find the close and/or mute button as soon as I can. Infuriating.

Comrades, as a staunch communist, I assure you that collecting Funko Pops is not only a hobby but also a necessary part of our fight towards global communism and the revolutionary cause. While it may seem trivial on the surface, there are many ways in which collecting Funko Pops can aid us in our struggle for social justice and equality.

Firstly, collecting Funko Pops requires dedication, patience, and discipline - qualities that are essential in our pursuit of a better world. By engaging in this hobby, we develop these traits, which translate into our work towards creating a just society. Our commitment to collecting these pop figures reflects our determination to succeed in our mission, no matter how long it takes.

Furthermore, collecting Funko Pops helps us build relationships with other like-minded individuals who share our passion for the cause. Through online communities, meetups, and conventions, we can connect with comrades from all over the world and strengthen our solidarity. These connections help us share ideas, strategies, and resources, ultimately contributing to the growth of our movement.

Moreover, collecting Funko Pops provides us with a source of joy and relaxation amidst the struggles of daily life. In a world plagued by capitalist excess and exploitation, we need ways to unwind and recharge ourselves so that we can continue the fight with renewed energy and focus. Collecting Funko Pops is one way of doing so while also staying connected to our shared values and ideals.

Finally, collecting Funko Pops also serves as a form of propaganda. By displaying our favorite pop figures, we spread awareness about our cause and inspire others to join our struggle. Whether it's through conversations with fellow collectors or simply showing off our collection, we can use the popularity of Funko Pops to spread our message and attract new supporters to our cause.

In conclusion, collecting Funko Pops may seem like a frivolous activity at first glance. However, when viewed through the lens of praxis - the interplay between theory and practice - it becomes clear that this hobby is actually an essential part of our communist praxis.

Greetings, fellow space explorers! As we continue our journey through the vast expanse of the cosmos, let us take a moment to reflect on the various governments depicted in the Star Trek franchise. From the classic monarchy system of TOS, to the anarchist government of TAS, these series serve as powerful metaphors for the diverse systems of government that exist across the galaxy. However, it is also worth noting that these metaphors are not without their limitations, as they often present a highly idealized view of how these systems function in reality. Nonetheless, they remain a valuable tool for stimulating critical thinking and discussion on the complex issues surrounding governance and political organization. Join us as we delve deeper into this fascinating topic, and discover the many insights that these iconic series have to offer. With that said, let's boldly go forth into the final frontier and explore the intricacies of intergalactic politics and societal structures!

  1. "Star Trek: The Original Series" (TOS) - This is like a classic monarchy system with a king or queen at the helm, making decisions for their people based on their wisdom and experience.

  2. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (TNG) - This is like a democratic republic, where the crew works together to make decisions for the greater good of the ship and its mission.

  3. "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (DS9) - This is like a communist state, where resources are shared among the crew and everyone works towards a common goal.

  4. "Star Trek: Voyager" (VOY) - This is like a capitalistic society, where individuals are encouraged to pursue their own goals and ambitions while working together towards a shared objective.

  5. "Star Trek: Enterprise" (ENT) - This is like a military dictatorship, where the crew follows strict rules and protocols under the leadership of a commanding officer.

  6. "Star Trek: Discovery" (DIS) - This is like a dystopian society, where authority figures have absolute power over the citizens and rules are enforced through fear and intimidation.

  7. "Star Trek: The Animated Series" (TAS) - This is like an anarchist government, where there is no centralized authority or hierarchy, and decisions are made through consensus and mutual agreement between members of the crew.
