Yup! Bought an android phone on Amazon. I got a bunch of ads for phones or incompatible accessories. Amazon... You know I bought a android phone, why are you selling me a lightning cable? You know it was a pixel phone, why are you selling me a phone case for a Samsung s series phone?

I'll piss off a bunch of lemmy users with this but... I don't mind ads. I hate useless ads. As you said, ads about teas or coffees would of been useful for you. 99% of the time if I buy something I don't need more of that, maybe some associated stuff but not that. If I buy a video card yesterday I don't need another one. Sell me the latest games. Sell me da monitor with high fps/resolution to show off what the video card can do. I buy a clothes washer, I don't need another one. Sell me detergent. Sell me fabric softener.

How have all the advertising companies missed this?

Asking out of ignorance, what exactly did he do?

To be clear I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong, or that there is a justification. I literally just don't know what he was charged with.

While this was horrible 1. The officer was fired(probably nit a sever enough punishment but something) 2. The story was from February 2020

That is one reason another is one my company does often. See in most cases you get hired as a contractor, so no pto no benefits no holiday pay etc. So let's say a manager has a contractor who is really good and they want to make them a permanent employee. First they have to convince upper management that the manager deserves a full time employee. Now they have to create a job offer, open to all internal and external applicants. They need to collect/sort resumes, they then select a series of people to interview. Now in 99% of cases the recipient is already choosen and the interviews don't matter but they have to put on a show. Then the manager has to explain why the other applicants are worse and the employee who is still a contractor actually deserves the permanent position. Then only then will the contractor be offered a employee position.

Also we must keep 20% of all the workforce at each site as contractors. So full time positions only appear when either a bunch of contractors are hired or employees quit either of which throws off the ratio. We have lost many great employees due to this policy.

I don't know about Georgia but at least in New Jersey that's not allowed. Not only that buts it's defense choice of attorney.

Several years ago, I was in legal trouble. I was recommended a lawyer by a distant family friend. That lawyer happened to be the wife of the lead prosecutor.the lead prosecutor was immediately dismissed from the case and another prosecutor appointed.

I got off with a light sentence and have cleaned up my life. That said who knows what would of happened if I had a different lawyer, the prosecutor was notorious for being hard and firm in his cases. I probably would of fared worse but he couldn't touch the case and a junior prosecutor was assigned. As I said different state so different lawyers but kind of makes sense. You can't monitor opposing benches communication or shared knowledge or deals...a lot of political questions not typically worth dealing with.

It would be interesting if she used a major corporation. I know no non-public info but let's say she got a flight on American Airlines.

The Texas government suing American Airlines in a civil case(both parties have an army of lawyers and funds to defend themselves) over this would probably set legal precident.

I don't agree with the law, just stating that the resulting suit would be interesting to follow.

For years I've contemplated the idea if I came into a bunch of money if starting a porn studio where the customer is an actor/actress in the porn.

We have a building and several "sets" with cameras recording, customer picks their "partner" and "set" and "shoot the porn", after they are done the video is burned on to a dvd(or blue ray or potentially put on a private file server).

The customer isn't paying for sex, they are paying for the video.

Pretty sure it would have a ton of legal push back and I would need a lot of money for the lawyers to fight the cases.

But 1. Safer for everyone imvolved(it's video taped so you won't beat/hurt/kill the other party) 2.technically legal just like shooting porn
