Probably because their offspring survive better in the freshwater streams than the ocean that they'll live in later in life.

Close. We're about 3-10 different countries and 2 dozen or so corporations in a trenchcoat.

Damn imagine paying to read an article to confirm your biases. If you're going to claim something is a bubble you need to claim something more specific than "AI".

The entire early modern web was a bubble in the early 00s and it's still here. There's not even many large companies yet to even start being bubbly. An actual AI bubble could be 10 years off.

I just love how so many educated and intelligent people can get stuck in knee jerk reactionary takes because some admittedly large aspects of a new technology (LLMs) are annoying as hell.

They'll make a new entity that extracts most of the profit while the production facility operates at cost or even a loss. Jurisdiction shopping is a thing even within the US.

It's a reference to the episode with Frank Grimes. He's a guy who does everything by the book and has little to show for it while Homer bumbles through life and gets everything. Frank is super envious of Homer. Excellent episode.

"Things can't be better because if they're better they'll be more expensive."

Could have said the same thing about the 40 hour work week. We should all go back to 60 hour weeks so that we can save all that money then!

it's really not. the most charitable thing you could ascribe to this lady is she's assumed the wrong priors.

perhaps in her head DQ and similar jobs should be staffed only by teenagers making spending money in a world where adults are so gainfully employed that they have no need to work here.

that is not the world we live in today. it may or may not have existed in the past. it certainly doesn't under our corporate overlords today. advocating for low wages for these jobs today is advocating for people to struggle, to overcrowd their apartments, and to resort to desperate means to survive.

Windows 11 doing this is more ewaste not less. It's more ewaste even if 100% of the existing stock gets reused because some (many?) of those computers will get replaced with new ones.

About 24 states have some form of open primary. Most of them are entirely open. Some are independents/uncommited-only as you noted.
