A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn for a role quite well suited to me.

I already live and work in the EU but am a non-EU national.

He asked me some questions, set up the call, and a few hours before the call asked me if I have an EU passport. I said no I do not and he casually dropped “let me know once you have it” and proceeded to cancel the call.

It’s not really a big deal but the tone deafness made me laugh a bit. Hope he realises an EU passport isn’t something one can go buy from the corner store.

I'm genuinely asking because I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach this in 2026.

Every recruiter I talk to says outreach isn't working like it used to. Response rates are down, candidates are ghosting, and inboxes are flooded with messages.

The inbound side isn't much better. Resumes written by AI are getting through all the filters. Bots are applying to hundreds of jobs in one night. A real person is getting buried under a pile of applications that all sound the same or are "perfectly" matched to the job description.

This makes sourcing passive talent feel like the most genuine way to find people. I still see generic messages like "exciting opportunity at a fast-growing company" being copied and pasted into LinkedIn messages.

I'm curious to know what's actually working right now. Are recruitment leaders taking outbound approaches seriously, or is it still just an experiment? How are founders screening candidates when resumes can't be trusted?

How are you finding the right people these days?

This was shortly after he had surgery because of an injury in his leg, he was sleeping on our terrace. I still hear his purring when i look at this picture. This is one of my favourite pictures of all time by far.

My 7 month old Siamese got into the closed packet of Jaffa cakes with 3 of them remaining. Ate them all, I definitely was worried.

I contacted ER vet straight away, they gave the advice to keep an eye on him as the amount of semi-sweet chocolate he ate (2-3g per cake) should not get him in the threshold of toxicity.

Kept an eye on him accordingly. No change in behavior whatsoever. Wanted to share this for people experiencing a similar situation. Remain calm and call the vet for advice! Reddit is a great place for advice, but in these situations it’s better to stay calm and contact your vet immediately. They know what’s best.

My neighborhood has always had cats roaming around, and usually it's fine they end up going back to their owners house being clean and fed. But recently i've been seeing cats, TONS. of cats surrounding this one house, i think they recently moved here with cats, and of course, the cats went outside. I didn't care until i noticed these cats are constantly dirty, look ill, and having kittens.

I remember i was on a walk, and saw a baby kitten nearby, it was a tiny cat right outside their door and it was super friendly letting me pet it, at the time i didn't know it was their cat so i was planning on taking it and takin care of it since it was just a kitten. As i picked the cat up, someone came out and said it was their cat.

Now i see this cat, still going outside, it's much older now but still. Why have so many cats go outside and not even fix them? It makes me feel awful going on walks and seeing 3-4 cats waiting outside this one house's door. It's like they WANT to go in but they don't let them.

The female constantly goes outside, and she always looks so sick. She's just going to have even more babies because she's outside with males and not fixed.

I just feel horrible seeing this all whenever i go on my walks, is there anything i can realistically do? I've never talked to these neighbors before. I was thinking of leaving a flyer of a spay and neuter program i've heard of, but i don't want them to be offended. Any advice?

I may be too literal as a person or perhaps there’s a cultural piece of info I don’t have since I’m not from an English speaking country. But :

Everywhere on the internet where people talk about their cats, you can find someone describing a specific situation involving their cat « crying ».

I’ve never seen a cat cry. What do people mean when they say their cat cries ? Is it just another word for meowing really loud ? Do cats actually shed tears ? Are my cats sociopaths for not doing that ?

Thanks in advance for your answers

The cats and the staircase in question. We really love the home, but we are worried about the wooden spiral staircase. Our two oldest cats are 8 and 7. They’re both healthy but our stripey boy is not graceful at all. We worry about him falling or struggling on the stairs and don’t want to limit his movement throughout the house.
