Sonic is trash.

Why don't most people understand this simple fact?

Decades ago I saw him perform at the shitty punk venue that I miss so much nowadays.

After he finished his set he hung out on a couch in the back, his considerable mass occupying every cushion, it may have been a love seat. After purchasing one of his albums (vinyl) we "headbutted", gently and respectfully holding each others skull and touching them together. Rumor was he had severe schizophrenia and many of his songs do allude to demons in his head. I know he preferred headbutts to shaking hands though, it was kinda his thing. His forehead had several large bumps on it, not sure if that was from external injury or internal tumescence.

Don't remember the name of the album but the cover art was a drawing Wesley did of a city intersection, done in ballpoint pen and Crayola-style markers, featuring a city bus. Everyone was talking about him weeks before the show and I'm not sure how that happened in our small town before the rise of Google. Good times.

What was it I was thinking,

or was I even thinking at all?

When I think of what I thought back then,

then I'm ashamed; and I'm appalled

that I gave up all I ever was so easily.

Living your life is not for me.

I won't be sedated, I won't be sedated!

Give me a little taste and I know I won't want more.

I won't be sedated, stability is overrated.

Give me the disorder I adore.

What was it you were thinking,

or were you even thinking at all?

When I think of what you thought of me,

I take offense; and I'm appalled

that you could discount all I love so easily.

Living our life is not for me.

I won't be sedated, I won't be sedated!

Give me a little taste and I know I won't want more.

I won't be sedated, stability is overrated.

Give me the disorder I adore.

I can't be a part,

Be a part,

I can't be a part.

I can't be a part,

Be a part of your modern world.

I've gotta be apart,

Be apart,

Gotta be apart.

I've gotta be apart.

I can't grasp the values that you hold.

[Verse 1]

I'll turn you on and switch you right off

I'll make sure you like what you see

Forget all that you once believed

Now you will believe in me

[Verse 2]

Do you believe you make the choice?

Decide what you hold most dear

In all opinions that you voice

It's my voice that they all hear

[Chorus]

I'll take your ideas and your values

I'll make you turn them all around

I'll break your individuality

I'll take you down

[Verse 3]

I'll seal shut your open eyes

I'll give you a taste of the bland

Intoxicate you, take me in

You'll never feel the touch of my hand

[Chorus]

I'll take you ideas and your values

I'll make you turn them all around

I'll break your individuality

I'll take you down

[Verse 4]

I'll turn you on and switch you right off

I'll soothe your troubled mind

You'll never have to think again

It's just a matter of lost time

[Chorus]

I'll take your ideas and your values

I'll make you turn them all around

I'll break your individuality

I'll take you down

[Refrain]

I'll take you down

I'll take you down

Home Movies is an American television sitcom created by Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard. The show centers on an eight-year-old aspiring filmmaker, also named Brendon Small, who makes homemade film productions in his spare time with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis. He lives with his divorced mother Paula and his adopted baby sister Josie. He develops a skewed father-son-like relationship with his alcoholic, short-tempered soccer coach, John McGuirk.

Home Movies premiered on UPN on April 26, 1999. UPN cancelled the series after only five episodes due to low ratings, but Cartoon Network purchased the rights to the series, seeing potential in it; the show premiered as the first original program on their nighttime adult-oriented Adult Swim block on the night of the block's launch on September 2, 2001. The series ended on April 4, 2004, with a total of 52 episodes over the course of four seasons.

Home Movies developed a cult following during its run, and is still considered a renowned cult show, having been well-regarded by critics in the years since its run. Co-creator Small later helped create the Adult Swim animated series Metalocalypse and Bouchard later created the animated series Bob's Burgers for the Fox network, casting H. Jon Benjamin (the voice of Coach McGuirk, Jason, and Perry) as the voice of Bob.
