This post links unrelated trade disputes, infrastructure policy, and China anxiety into a single apocalyptic narrative where hockey itself somehow becomes collateral damage. The absence of causal logic, evidence, or institutional reality pushes it from ordinary political exaggeration into full schizopol flair world.

Discord has announced significant updates to its platform regarding age verification. Beginning next month, all users will have their accounts set to a “teen-appropriate” setting unless they verify their status as adults. This move aims to enhance user safety and comply with global legal requirements.

Impacts of Age Verification on User Experience Users not verified as adults will face limitations on their accounts. Access to age-restricted servers and channels will be denied. Users will encounter content filters for graphic or sensitive material. Direct messages (DMs) from unknown users will be filtered into a separate inbox. Even in non-age-restricted environments, these users will still be hindered from sending messages or accessing certain content, pending successful age verification. Savannah Badalich, Discord’s global head of product policy, stated that these restrictions will obfuscate the restricted servers until the user completes the verification process.

Methods for Age Verification Discord will offer two primary options for verifying age:

Facial Age Estimation: Users can take a video selfie. This process is designed to remain device-local, ensuring privacy. ID Submission: Users can present government-issued identification to verify their age, with images deleted after confirmation. If a user disputes the outcome of the facial estimation, they can appeal or present their ID instead. Discord has shifted to a different third-party vendor for these processes following a previous data breach involving age verification data.

Additional Age Assurance Features Alongside these options, Discord is implementing an age inference model. This model will analyze user behavior and metadata to determine if someone is likely an adult. If the system confidently identifies a user as an adult, they may bypass direct verification processes.

Concerns and Future Planning While the measures are intended for user safety, there is concern over potential backlash. Badalich anticipates that some users may leave the platform due to the new restrictions. Discord is actively considering strategies to retain users amid these changes.

This global rollout of age verification is part of a broader trend among online platforms aiming to enhance child safety and adhere to international regulations. As Discord adapts to these demands, the experience for many users may remain relatively unchanged

https://redlib.catsarch.com/r/stupidpol/comments/1r072jj/i_know_and_have_long_admired_noam_he_is_arguably/

"I don’t expect much from politicians, corporate tycoons, the presidents of prestigious universities, billionaire philanthropists, celebrities, royalty or oligarchs. They live in narcissistic and hedonistic bubbles that cater to their self-worship and moral depravity. But I do expect a lot from intellectuals such as Noam Chomsky. The explanation by his wife Valéria - Noam suffered a severe stroke in June 2023 and is incapacitated - of their relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is filled with the fatuous excuses used by all those who have been outed in the Epstein emails and documents. According to Valéria, she and Noam were “overly trusting.” This led to “poor judgment.” She writes that she and Noam were ensnared by dinners with luminaries at Epstein’s mansion, flights on his private jet nicknamed the Lolita Express, a literary reference to the sexual exploitation of girls Noam would have recognized, financial assistance, trips to Epstein’s ranch and the use of one of Epstein’s apartments in New York. Like everyone else outed in the Epstein files she and Noam “never witnessed any inappropriate behavior from Epstein or others.”

Noam’s advice to Epstein on how to handle press inquiries into his crimes, like Noam’s letter of recommendation for Epstein, was, she insists, the result of Epstein’s taking “advantage of Noam’s public criticism towards what came to be known as ‘cancel culture’ to present himself as a victim of it.” After Epstein’s second arrest in 2019, she and Noam “were careless in not thoroughly researching his background.” She ends by expressing “unrestricted solidarity with the victims.” Her letter regurgitates the formula of everyone outed in the Epstein files. I know and have long admired Noam. He is, arguably, our greatest and most principled intellectual. I can assure you he is not as passive or gullible as his wife claims. He knew about Epstein’s abuse of children. They all knew. And like others in the Epstein orbit, he did not care. From the email correspondence between Epstein and Valéria it appears she particularly enjoyed the privileges that came with being in Epstein’s circle, but this does not absolve Noam’s acquiescence. Noam, of all people, knows the predatory nature of the ruling class and the cruelty of capitalists, where the vulnerable, especially girls and women, are commodified as objects to be used and exploited. He was not fooled by Epstein. He was seduced. His association with Epstein is a terrible and, to many, unforgivable stain. It irreparably tarnishes his legacy. If there is a lesson here, it is this. The ruling class offers nothing without expecting something in return. The closer you get to these vampires the more you become enslaved. Our role is not to socialize with them. It is to destroy them."

https://redlib.catsarch.com/r/stupidpol/comments/1r05nu1/i_feel_like_moot_refounding_pol_a_day_after/

So if you've seen the Epstein files, you'll see that Moot met Epstein and a day later Moot restarted /pol/. Why does this matter? Because considering Epstein's Israeli ties, the constant astroturfing that 4chan hacks revealed, it suddenly gives a different light to what narratives have been coming from a right wing radicalizing site over the past decade. Because every narrative that's come of out /pol/ has, funny enough, been in the best interest of Israel since it's refounding.

Trump has his infamous "they're not sending their best speech" and /pol/ loves it and picks it up. /Pol/ also shortly starts pizzagate from Hilary's Email leak and runs with it. /pol/ memes Trump into the Presidency and suddenly Israel has it's biggest Ally in the last few decades in the White House.

Coincidentally right after Trump gets elected, Q picks up Pizzagate and brings it from fringe internet conspiracy theory into main stream Republican, and mainly evangelical thought. I'd argue it's main audience overlapps It also preaches patience while Trump fixes everything. New Right movements also spring up throughout Europe and the world on the heels of Trump's success.

Where am I getting with this? I'm getting at that it's awfully convenient that since Epstein met with Moot and he restarted /pol/ it has been an influence to get everything Israel has wanted in the past decade. It's got it's arguably greatest ally of all time in the White House who's given them a free hand to do whatever they want, normalized relationships with many Arab countries, destabilized Israel's enemies, broke down any peace negotiations and gave them a free hand to continue colonization.

The new right that's emerged following Trump is also more Zionist than the old right ever was.

Pizzagate and Q have taped Evangelicals and Christian zionists to make sure Trump has a stable base and, more importantly, they've shut down any connection of the operation with Epstein to Israel proper or it's Allies in their orbit. I've been following the whole Epstein and "pedos in government" theory since the early 2010s. People knew about the Intelligence (Mossad/CIA) connection and the connection of billionaires back then. But since Pizzagate/Q, it's gone from "pedos run the goverment" to "LEFTIST/ LIBERAL pedos run the government while my side are the good guys." If you try to talk to a rightiod about it today, any thought contrary to Pizzagate gospel bounces right off of them.

Pizzagate has really come across as a psyop to make people think the child trafficking is all done in basements by shady liberals and not out in the open like Mossad asset Epstein was doing.

tl;dr Materially everything major that has come out of /pol/ since it's refounding following Moot and Epstein meeting, no matter how antisemetic /pol/ is now, has served to advance Israeli interests globally.

No thanks. There's some minor benefit in knowing the lingo, like there is for any other woo, but most people haven't read the source material and quoting it at them won't accomplish anything.

Now Imane Khelif is admitting it directly:

https://www.lemonde.fr/en/sports/article/2026/02/05/boxer-imane-khelif-reveals-she-took-hormone-treatment-before-paris-olympics_6750171_9.html

In an interview with a French sports daily, the 26-year-old Algerian, who has been the target of repeated attacks, confirms that she has the SRY gene and took treatment to lower her testosterone levels in order to compete.

This is not the case of female XY, and so Khelif is biologically male.

This is often a point of confusion, but human sex is binary. There's edge cases that require clarification as to how they fit into the binary, but don't disprove it.

Human sexuality overall is complex and that's why we differentiate gender from sex. The sex binary and gender spectrum complement each other though, and don't clash.

If you're interested in learning more, here's some background reading:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonochorism

We fall into that category, where we have two body plans, each organized around producing either sperm or ova. Other species have more body plans, such as recognizably distinct males, females, and hermaphrodites:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trioecy

Those species are a good contrast. Humans don't have that variation, and so sex is binary in humans.

There's literature that explains this specifically in detail, though most of it doesn't really explicitly talk about it, much like math papers don't generally explain that integers can be added together.

Male seahorse get pregnant, but that doesn't make them trans, they're unambiguously male. This is a great example of why sex is defined by gamete size. If it weren't, we couldn't talk about males and females in any useful way across the animal kingdom.

Clownfish would be a better example as they're sequential hermaphrodites, but that doesn't have any bearing on the human sex binary.

The law states that “reproductive cancer of any type” be covered. Officials added male breast cancer under that category after a working group of experts reviewed the science. The decision noted “the marked similarity of male and female breast cancer.”

The Trump administration’s memo argues that designation is a mistake. “The Biden Administration falsely classified male breasts as reproductive organs,” Kasperowicz said in his statement to ProPublica.

A former official who was involved in the VA’s decision last year said that while there were discussions about how to interpret “reproductive cancer,” the scientific consensus among VA oncologists was clear. “The evidence showed that male and female breast tissue respond similarly to toxic exposures and share nearly identical biological and mutational profiles,” said the former official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, citing concern for his job prospects in government. “Expanding coverage to male breast cancer was the right call.”

Rosie Torres, who advocated for the PACT Act after her husband became sick, said the current administration is putting politics above patriotism and people. “It shouldn’t matter who signed the bill,” Torres said, referring to Biden. “If you don’t like the ‘reproductive’ word, do it under another category. Don’t remove it. These are peoples’ lives.”

That's a dumb technicality. Wonder if they're really that dumb, or this was pushed through because someone's benefiting from denying care. The right thing to do if you want to "well aktually" the term "reproductive cancer" would be to figure out how to cover it under whatever term brings you joy, not just leave them to die.

Far fewer people hate AI in the general population as a percentage than on Lemmy. Your average person either doesn't care or has found it useful in some way.

Right, "equivalent to" in the sense that legs are "equivalent to" fins in that they provide locomotion.

Not quite - mating types aren't sex (though the post confuses them). Their gametes are the same size (isogamy), so it's called mating types. Humans have gametes of different sizes, so we have sexes.

It can be true that something is both an important right and used unethically by people that don't actually care about the topic. See Rainbow capitalism as a very related example. Nutomic is right that identity politics are used to create division among the working class, because anything that can create division will be used to do so.

The "people will never vote for a woman" crowd is sort of right. A woman will never be elected with the current DNC, but only because they view a woman candidate as an excuse to be shittier. They think their base will hold their nose and vote for a worse candidate just because of what's in her pants.

AOC might get elected because she's interesting on her own merits and has enough name recognition to not be buried by the DNC. They'll do their best to prevent it though.
