Would you be interested in hosting these? We can make sure they're pinned to the top.

Maybe we can start with monthly threads, I think conversation would admittedly be a little sparse on a weekly thread. I do think having a place to chat informally would be a great addition to the community though!

Some of the folks on the ride(shout out to [email protected]) I did last weekend mentioned it and said its gets pretty crowded/crazy. Seeing these pictures definitely confirms that!

May have to make it a point to check it out before the summer is over though.

I couldn't have agreed more so I reached out to Seahorse and asked them add me as a mod so I could make some changes despite Simsym being absent. I opted to use the municipal device for the icon as DownHomeChunk suggested (its niche and different) and used the theater sign for the banner like r/chicago has (open to alternatives though!)

Updated, thanks for the suggestion.

Au Cheval is nice but damn do they make you wait! I'll be adding Rubi's and Monster to my list.

I finally tried Phodega on Ashland. I got the Beef Pho, my partner got the chicken Bahn Mi, and we shared an order of fried pork dumplings. To close out the meal we got some of their house-made Ube cookies and those were tasty and a lot of fun, ube seems to be having a moment.

Everything was pretty good but the dumplings stole the show, almost wish I had just gotten 2 orders of those. I got the beef Pho because it's their signature dish but I'm not sure id get it again, it was a little boring and flat and those meat balls were FIRM. It wasn't bad, just not exciting, there were definitely better things on the menu.

Next visit I'll be trying their chicken fried rice.

…Damn, thats making me feel like I finally need to try it.

Ive been here 4 years and still haven’t mustered up the courage(not really a take-a-shot guy myself). I see the chicago handshake all over the city too, maybe next time I’m out and craving an old style I’ll check it off the list.

Curious City is probably my favorite segment on WBEZ, they've been putting out some great content recently(see the slice joint piece). This was a good primer on Malört.

This worked for me: Profile > Settings > Accounts > [Your Account Name] Edit Account > Clearing the password and re-entering it > Save > Reload App

WBEZ putting the work in so we don't have to.

As an east coast boy, slice joints are a way of life. I'm excited to try some of these spots out over the Summer (probably via bike because driving in this city is a nightmare. Could be a good group ride idea!?)

Glad to see one of my favorite spots right now getting some much deserved attention: Pizza Friendly Pizza in the UK next to The Empty Bottle. I love a good Sicilian slice.

From the article:

Results of the latest parking meter audit by accounting giant KPMG shows meter revenues reached a record $140.4 million last year, up from $136.2 million in 2021 and $91.6 million during the stay-at-home shutdown of 2020...
...With 60 years left on the 75-year lease, Chicago Parking Meters LLC now has recouped its entire $1.16 billion investment and $530 million more.

ChiBike ruled, I would love to see a little bike community form here.

New to the bike scene and always looking for group/community rides. I've loved the last two Critical Masses and can't wait for the one later in June: https://thechainlink.org/events/chicago-critical-mass-957

I ride a '88 aluminum Trek 1000 I picked up from Working Bikes and absolutely love it. If you see me around town give me a ring!

Edit: I started c/chibike, come check it out!
