It's amazing the difference a union makes for customer satisfaction isn't it?

I recently wrapped up two lengthy interview processes (2 months for each).

Both companies were aware I was in multiple interview loops

One company was super transparent about the process, where I currently was in the process, all sorts of updates and notifications of delays etc. This loop took a long time since it was for a senior level position on a foundational team & product for the company.

The other company was playing it fast & loose. Lack of updates of where I am in the loop. Outside of the first meet & greet where I used a tool to find time on the interviewers schedule, I was chasing people to find out when the next interview step would be. After what I thought was the last "vibe check" interview with their CFO, I was told I'd hear from their HR shortly. It took 10 days and two check-in emails before I finally heard from HR and scheduled a meeting, which turned out to be more interviewing. I've yet to hear back from them, and I fully expect that they want me to chase them.

Needless to say, when the first company presented me with an offer that had everything in it I was asking for with a nice little cherry on top, I accepted the offer with very few questions or hesitation.

Treat me and my time with respect just as I will treat you and your time with respect. I have skills you need to deliver products & services and you have means of generating income from the combination of my skills and my peers to grant me an income. If you don't treat me & my time with respect, I'll go elsewhere, or even decide to become a competitor.

Non-Romantic domestic partnerships are awesome!

I wish I lived in a culture where this was more normalized. I guess it's a little more common among younger women, but fairly rare among men.

Glad you've got to have this experience with your family (which I'd argue you friend is part of).

If you just repurpose for housing you just wind up with 40,000 people needing transit and overloading the system you're trying to promote.

We need to think beyond housing and towards having communities that largely provide the needs of the people living with them. Shops, offices, other non-office/shop jobs, and recreational activities need to be considered as well.

Whenever a store locks up something I need that I could buy in 2023 off the shelf, I pull out my phone and order it from another store.

Yes, but when there's literally thousands of posts and comments to build the "between the lines" data within a 30-day time frame what excuse is there?

When somebody is trolling so hard that it's causing strife within your community it should be addressed. Identify the behavior that isn't desired and enforce existing rules around it or create a new one and warn the person that they need to operate in good faith within the rules or they will be ousted as an antagonistic troll.

Nah. I've dealt with these kind of people since BBSs. They're trolls and get a kick out of the responses.

They usually have multiple "hidden" agendas.

First and foremost is to get a rise out of people to get engagement so their message resonates negatively and then is surfaced and viewed by the impressionable.

Second is to cause strife within the community.

Third is to get that strife to get people to shift to their viewpoint

Trump campaign floundering so hard that an assisnation attempt of a former President couldn't dominate the news cycle and they're trying to make it happen 2 months later.

From a high level.

• Woman creates a video game about her personal struggles with depression.
• Got favorable reviews, some from notable game reviewers.
• Ex-boyfriend of woman posts a blog post and releases cherry picked chat logs alleging notable reviewer gave her a positive review due to sexual favors/relationship between the woman and reviewer.
• Notable reviewer never reviewed her game.
• Toxic gamer boys got in a huff that a woman was promoted due to sexual favors. They cried "ethics in video game reviews" together.
• Toxicness spreads to other women in the video game industry because of the misgony.
• Gamergate being full of easily manipulated individuals that don't feel like they belong or are heard are now organized.
• Group is infiltrated by people that have a malicious intent to incite and recruit for far right extremeist movements.

The details are interesting, but in the end it's drama caused by frail male egos that led to a ton of misgony.
