I tried searching for "BSD memes" but all the results are for some cartoon by the same name.

It took me years of living on my own to learn my parents were doing it wrong:

The dishwasher doesn't need to be full to run it. You can chuck everything in after a meal and start it immediately.

Detergent and water are cheap, and even if it's only a few dishes the machine uses less water than doing them by hand. Also, use liquid or powder detergent and make sure to fill the pre-wash detergent holder -- detergent pods are a rip off.

"Guys, these hexbear users and tankies people are talking about seem to be obnoxious, reactionary, tribalistic assholes that unironically support oppressive regimes. Clearly people hating them is The Red Scare 2.0"

Even "good quality" stainless steel can easily rust, as anyone who's owned quality kitchen knives will tell you. Some stainless alloys are more resistant than others -- but exposed to the right conditions they all corrode.

They also seriously injure the people they do hit.

A car tends to hit low and send people onto the hood. A truck hits high (head and torso injuries) and knocks people to the ground where they get run over.

Just equip the airliners with modified AGM-88 HARM missiles to deal with the jammers.

A conviction is only supposed to happen if it's proven "beyond a reasonable doubt" the defendant is guilty of the crime(s) they're charged with. They're "presumed innocent" until they're afforded due process (a trial, plea, etc) by the court.

A "not guilty" plea essentially just means "I want a trial".

A confession isn't a plea -- it could have been coerced, the result of misunderstanding, mental impairment, etc. A trial gives the defense the opportunity to make those arguments.

A lot of the complaints about people "being lazy" while working from home comes from managers that don't know how to deal with WFH.

Management and team leads don't need to unduly spy on people or micromanage them. They need to figure out a reasonable measure of productivity and track it, i.e. "What did an employee get done today/this week/etc?" The employees would probably be happy to help figure it out if it means they don't have to come back in to the office.

From there, basic management skills apply. If it looks like someone is slacking off verify that's actually the case, then go from there.

It also ignores war aren't always won by taking and holding territory: many are won by simply outlasting the enemy's willingness or ability to maintain the conflict.

There's also the fact people have been eating corn as a staple for millennia.

I don't get how the "lithium batteries can't be recycled" idea passes the sniff test.

Lithium mining requires moving insane amounts of earth to reach the ore: often a pit mine. Said ore contains around 1-2% Lithium Oxide by weight -- which still needs to be refined and processed into Lithium metal.

A battery is around 11% Lithium by weight.

There's money to be made, and people are already on it.
