I don't think Scott Alexander is entitled to get annoyed about excessive anti-racism programmes in the workplace given that he is well known to be very racist.

Hell, maybe he has done an above-average number of unconscious bias trainings and DEI workshops and racism book clubs, but it's because he keeps talking about how black people are mentally inferior at work and making him do training is cheaper than firing him.

Wow, this wrong and unfair but it's also just stupid. Especially this:

The homeless theory of cities:

SF is idealistic and trusting because the homeless are mostly peaceful addicts commiting slow suicide

NYC is ruthless and status-obsessed because the homeless are aggressive and confrontational

I would definitely make lots of extremely boring posts about old bands in a music sub. Hmmm, maybe it would be a bad idea....

I read his Wikipedia recently and he just seemed like a user who was careless with the people in his life. His philosophy was "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law", which is obviously open to abuse and exploitation.

Our entire economy since the 80s has been reliant on neo-colonial relationships with multinational companies unfortunately

I guess he doesn't realize that everyone has a different idea of what music is interesting, and the big nightclubs have to go for the lowest common denominator in order to keep up sales.

commenter on Shtetl-Optimized talks about the rapey “nice guys” she suffered at college

Not just that, but one of very few feminist commenters in an aggressively anti-feminist comments section on a blogpost about how it's wrong that MIT pulled Walter Lewin's online lecture videos after he was accused of sexually harrassing a student. Scott Aaronson, Friend To All Women, felt no need to intervene as his fans trashed the very notion of online sexual harrassment - only when a woman made an uncharitable remark about nerd men.

Do the founders of religions usually get much out of it? Jesus was nailed to a cross.

This is just like the flat tax. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, for every social welfare benefit, there is a "reform" which is simpler, easier, and totally wrong.
