The idea is very likely sovereignty rather than just an alternative. Overheid.nl is a government website.
Ah, so that's why their website told me I'm living at an address I haven't been at for years even though I already notified them years ago. And why their form refuses to change it.
I have. None of them claim plants are sentient or are capable to feel suffering. Or any other indication that points to sentience rather than (complex) response to stimuli.
That is because while you and others might associate these responses to indications of sentience, scientists do not.
Only talking about credible secondary sources, of course.
And I agree to all of that. And I vote in alignment with these opinions.
But this is not a reality right now, and this EU change would still benefit the general population better than no change at all.
You can work towards a world where essentials are a right and work towards bettering the current system at the same time.
Oh, no. People will rise up eventually. It's just a shame that most people turn out to be olympic athletes in mental gymnastics and delay the realization to the next generation(s).
It's not implying any causality, it's just denouncing hypocrisy.
There is no hypocrisy in dreaming to move to some other country as long as you're not trying to stop others from achieving that same dream.
Huh. Sounds familiar.
What sort of help do you think any country outside of yours can provide?
What do you mean by that? Cause the exact words you used are quite obviously incorrect.
...Then it's also shittily implemented in Spain. Separation of powers doesn't mean you can't have a better system than nomination in the adjudicative branch, and it doesn't mean you can't have assholes at the head of branches. It means you don't grant all branches of power to the same assholes. Which would be worse in any case.
Bottom line: It's a great and essential principle to maintain democratic institutions, but of course not enough by itself.
No, it's great. It's just shittily implemented in the US.
