I hate a "this is a psyop" "this is a distraction " mother fucker. First of all they don't need to do distractions, they just do shit and nobody stops it. Second it's lazy thinking, why would the gov invest in this ? To pass the legislation that they already pass without you?

I've noticed the same thing. The tech industry has been ass lately. There was a brief time where the love of development was strong but that lasted like a month before it turned to startup culture with bootcamp knowledge.

As an aside I asked another tech friend, if they got ~70% of their current pay would they work on farms picking produce all day. They said absolutely not and I said absolutely yes which makes the point that the tech industry is just for the weak.

I remember a few years back when AI was still buzzing, my company wanted to jump on it and get us up to speed. They assigned courses and did town halls about prompting and being good and told us all use rhe liscenes they bought to test it out and practice. I thought it was silly so I never bothered. Now coming to today and they no long have those meetings and courses, tbf they stopped like a year ago

I was watching 90 day fiance the other way and one of the persons wife is in China. When they were driving around he would see a "flashing light" and freak out. It got to the point where they had a fight over it, she was like "I donno maybe the apartment camera or something" and he'd make her drive around to catch it again. On stormfront, people were saying it's probably China watching them and other propaganda bs.

Now I know in the US, there's hella cameras in public places plus we're encouraged to surveil on our own with ring cameras and the like. So what's so scary about a camera flash? It's scary when it's tied to the evil seeseepee but we'll gladly sign our own privacy away for any private company that contracts with the state anyway

If I'm scanning groceries for somebody else then sure but if it's just my own stuff, it's not work. Take pumping gas, some locations do it for you but if I'm pumping it myself, I'm not doing work for fre.

Hearing from some of my other high paid coworkers talk about social issues reminds me that I'm nothing like them.
