What is it about a commenter being from the global north that makes it thermodynamically impossible for China to, for example, send rifles and small arms ammunition to revolutions in the majority world like the USSR did?

Mainly the fact that there is no revolution in the global north to send guns to. The US is having some domestic disturbance, and you're already oversaturated with firearms, and yet there's still nothing organised for China to support even if it wanted to.

Yeah, this isn't reddit, we don't need to make shit up to prove a point here.

How is this 'prosperity gospel'?

Nothing is being 'conveniently ignored', I'm simply pointing out that there is no actual evidence of links between the Dalai Lama and Jeffrey Epstein.

You shouldn't have to lie to discredit bad people.

[-] godisidog@hexbear.net 25 points 16 hours ago

Epstein’s entire deal was making connections with influential people. It’s not remotely surprising that he’d want to have links with someone like the Dalai Lama.

The ‘mentions’ are things like Epstein saying “we should get the Dalai Lama for dinner”, and shit like that, it’s not like he was on Little St James.

I know English programs are really easy to get onto, but can you even join Chinese ones without a gaokao score?

edit: oh it’s a program for foreigners but taught in Chinese.

Deepseek says 北大 offers Marxism courses in English. Also maybe Fudan in Shanghai. Don’t limit yourself to looking only at the very top universities though, can’t imagine teaching quality is that dramatically different for English-language courses. If you wanna practice Chinese especially you’d best avoid BJ and SH.

Allowing Xi to have a firm grip on cars everywhere. Authoritarianism has no end.

‘Libertarian’ was practically synonymous with (left-wing) anarchism before rightists co-opted it.

[-] godisidog@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Anarchism isn’t anti-leader, as evidenced if by nothing else but the host of well-known and well-respected anarchist leaders throughout history.

Anarchism is against unjust hierarchy, but consensual leadership is absolutely not contradictory to the ideology. You’re always going to need good people to lead movements, to organise and to manage, society would be chaos otherwise. Under anarchism, those people would just be legitimately democratically chosen, and legitimately held accountable by the people.
