Not sure where you are but some US states already have laws in place for "death with dignity." And of course some European countries too.

When I'm out and about and I see parents dragging their whiny kids around, I'm filled with such relief I have peace and quiet in my life.

If we can try with every day
To make it better as it goes
With any luck then I suppose
The music never ends

Funny you gave him the title of Knight of the Sofa. He had a spot on the back of our couch that is still dented to this day from his constant weight on it.

Sir Kitty was sensitive to the tone of my voice. If I was arguing with my husband, and especially if I was crying, he would come over, get on my lap if he can, and yell at both of us. (RIP July 2020, age 16) Here he is looking like he's comatose.

Pez used to use her front paws to hold her tail up so she could groom it. I know it's not super unusual, but she was the only one of our three who did that. (RIP November 2019, age 17+?) Here she is in the middle of a sneeze.

Murphy likes stinky socks and shoes. (Still kicking at 20+)

Leia does not want her food given to her. She wants to earn it.

Ooh, I love that coffee trick. It's so good in cakes so it makes sense that it would work in other foods.

Please take him to the vet. Hiding behavior is typically an indication that your cat doesn't feel good.

And nauseous vs. nauseated.

I think what OP means is that when you've been immersed in rationality for a while then suddenly in a situation where you're surrounded by religious people again, the things that are "normal" to them can be jarring to you. It's quite an "emperor has no clothes" moment.

Is the melanochrysum still considered rare? I've been out of the houseplant loop for several months, really mainly since leaving Reddit and r/houseplants. I've acquired all plants on my wishlist but always loved the pics of the melanochrysum that others posted. I wanted one but didn't think I would ever get my hands on one, so never considered it.

Then I started working at this garden center and they had them marked down at half off. First impulse buy in a while.

POV mama cat:

(This pic was taken in 2014. Murphy is over 20 years old now.)

The leaves seem larger and darker than any cultivar I've seen, and I'd really like to acquire one.

I was half-asleep and the sun was super bright but I'm glad the camera captured a pretty shot.

Additional Murphy tax

Our 20-year-old has CKD and we feed him a prescription food in the morning (Royal Canin Renal Support D) and a non-prescription food in the evening (Forza10 Renal Support paté).

Treats are limited to catnip, cat grass, and the very rare small piece of plain chicken.

What do you feed yours?

Job: cashier

Item doesn't scan

Customer: "That means it's free, right?"

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Only about 4 weeks in as a cashier and I've heard this enough to last me a lifetime.

He still gets the zoomies and crazies. Energizer Murphy -- he just keeps on going.

We keep our oldmancat Murphy in his room at night; otherwise, he'll howl at our bedroom door at an ungodly hour, begging to be fed. His room stays pretty dim, so when we let him out in the morning, he always gives us this squinty face. <3
