Critical support for comrade DeVault in his struggle against western imperialism?

The real problem with leftist infighting is that if you call a different type of leftist a mean word, some ignorant liberal is going to call you the same word. And then a reactionary will call a liberal that.

Is there a general term for the type of experimental or vaporware tech whose main function is creating FUD and FOMO which slows down the adoption and development of more mature conventional solutions? In the case of public transit these are collectively known as gadgetbahns. Examples from other fields include SMRs, direct air carbon capture, various embrace-extend-extinguish schemes in the software world, extraterrestrial colonies and a host of consumer IoT gadgets.

Tech support workers who may or may not speak English as a second language or with a strong accent can sometimes be of actual help and sometimes not, much like people with possibly more familiar accents can. A call center AI has never been anywhere close to solving a problem I've had.

You're no less fucked but instead of a human being getting underpaid for the trouble, a shitty tech corporation is overpaid.

A silhouette of a nuclear family with their heads overlaid by the flags of Australia, Canada, the UK and New Zealand. Above them king Charles of Normal Island holding and umbrella, shielding them from rain labeled "Trumpism and far right ideology".

Quality shitpost, I could imagine some thirteen year old actually believing this.

Flags of Spain, the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Denmark, Sweden, the UK, Norway, Andorra, Luxembourg and Belgium. Above the quote: "On the whole the European countries which have most successfully avoided Fascism have been constitutional monarchies" from George Orwell

Yea, no fascism whatsoever took place in the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, or Belgium during WW2, in which they were all very successfully avoiding being occupied by fascists.

Extra points to Spain who already avoided succumbing to their own homegrown brand of fascism before the Nazi German invasion of Poland, and where they avoided having fascists in power all the way until the 1970s. There's a book I quite like about the war where that happened called Homage to Catalonia. I wonder if Orwell ever read it.

Missing from the list is Italy, which is no longer a constitutional monarchy, but used to be until 1946, which is why they were so good at avoiding fascism they even named it.

This might take the cake for the dumbest take I've seen from George Orwell and not for a lack of competition.

Never ever board a ship if someone calls her unsinkable.

The point is not to be a gender detector. The point is to be a vague heuristic to discriminate by. It's like ad network tracking. They really don't know me as well as they think they do and pretend they do, but if they can convince themselves and their customers, it's enough. If computer gets your gender wrong, well nobody's perfect and it's a sacrifice they're willing to let you make. If the computer gets your gender wrong because you're queer, gender nonconforming or a person of colour, all the better — that's what the customers want anyway.

I think we should require professionals not to use the thing currently termed AI.

Or if you think it's unreasonable to ask them not to contribute to a frivolous and destructive fad or don't think the environmental or social impacts are bad enough to implement a ban like this, at least maybe we should require professionals not to use LLMs for technical information

Found a good one in the wild

Didn't you know LLM stood for Limited Liability Machine

Peter Thiel and Larry Ellison among others proving that at least having billions of dollars doesn't prevent you from experiencing the rather relatable human emotion of thanatophobia.

Oh it must truly suck to be them~

The fuck do they mean "solve culture"? Is culture a problem to be solved? Actually don't answer that.
