What is "type 2 flower"?

She changed the lyrics of a song called Better Than Revenge where she basically calls a girl who "stole" her man a whore.

Maybe some of us will, but not all of us. I'm already better at troubleshooting things than my gen z coworkers because they never had to go through the things that we had to go through to make things work, or at least they don't know how to google things to find solutions to things like I do.

My buddy wants to play Baldur's Gate 3 but I don't feel like paying for it.

Serious question: there isn't any tracking software installed on my work computer, and I use a VPN browser extension. Is it still possible for my employer to see what I'm doing?

I grieved Alan Rickman bc I grew up on Harry Potter but yeah, I agree with you.

It was so liberating when I, as a man, realized I don't give a shit what other people think about me and allowed myself to listen to her music

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Haha I was hoping that would draw people in

Thanks I stole it from Reddit lol

I recently became a Swiftie, and I'm sure like a lot of other Swifties, I won't shut the fuck up about her. She (and her music) truly lives rent free in my head. So, understandably, my wife is a little annoyed. So on Friday night, she started a timer and told me she wanted to see how long I could go without mentioning her. It started out annoying because I kept thinking of things that I wanted to say, like references to her lyrics, but I couldn't. For example:

  • Her 9 year old cousin started off a sentence with "I, I, I" as if she didn't know how to continue her sentence and my mind went "see how this is gonna go"

  • Later, her cousin said she wanted to "cry in the back of the car" because the baseball team we were watching lost, and my mind started singing the lyrics to both Cruel Summer and Getaway Car

  • My wife said something about how in her "wildest dreams" she wouldn't imagine something happening

  • Later, she said "we aren't out of the woods yet" in terms of it not raining

But then I started turning it back on her. She says that I take things too literally sometimes (I am neurodivergent, which is probably fueling my obsession), so I used that against her. She said I couldn't mention Taylor Swift, but she never said I couldn't use common phrases that appear in Taylor's song titles and lyrics, so I started using them in every day speech. Some examples:

  • Saying "Hey babe, 'I don't know about you...'" waiting for her to gasp, and then saying "I am not really hungry enough to eat a full dinner"

  • Drinking some lavender lemonade and saying it "tasted 'hazy'"

  • She was hangry for a little bit and said that she was fine, so I said "you're OK but you're not fine at all" (this one was probably not a good idea to say but I couldn't resist XD)

  • Mentioning that I hope someone receives "Karma" for being a douchebag on the road

I also wore my Taylor Swift shirt and told her I didn't mention her so she had to keep the timer going. The other thing I did was argue that if one of her songs came on during a full library shuffle, that it didn't count either, because I didn't specifically pick the song to play.

I ended up screwing up after 39:45:47 bc Love Story and then I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys came on during a car ride and we sang along to both, and afterwards I said "If you would have told me two years ago that I'd be singing Love Story and IWITW in the car I'd have laughed in your face" which counted because I named one of her song titles.

The whole thing was annoying at first but then became kinda fun lol.

Hi fellow yinzer

For example, if a lyric contains "that you", it ends up like "thatchoo". One example of this I can think of is in Karma by Taylor Swift (I know, I know, but it's one of the most popular songs I listen to). The line where she sings "Karma's a relaxing thought/Aren't you envious that for you it's not?" sounds like "arentchoo". It doesn't happen every time but it seems to happen unless you're consciously making an effort to not make that sound. An example of this is in Love Story where she sings "That you were Romeo/You were throwing pebbles", and it sounds like if you were just talking to someone and said "that" and "you" separately.

I'm just wondering if this happens in other languages with different combinations of sounds? It probably happens with other sound combinations in English too, but this is the easiest example to think of.

Hopefully there will be a lot of crab emojis on social media soon

I know I just don’t have the mental energy to argue with a chud right now

I have no idea how many US service members there are in the US but it's a non issue for two reasons. One, the US population far outnumbers them and two, I bet when the fighting starts there would be a lot of desertions because it would mean killing their friends, family and fellow countrymen.

Pessimistic defeatist attitude won't get us anywhere.

Edit: oh and before I became a socialist my friend who is in the military (and has been for a while) reminded me how effective guerrilla warfare is. See: Vietnam and Korea.

I have an idea for a tattoo I'd like to get for my cat when she goes to the rainbow bridge but I'm not sure how to best execute it. I have two tattoos but both of them are simple symbols so this is one is going to be more involved. I would just like to have the idea more formulated before finding the right artist.

Let's use lemmygrad.ml as an example. My home instance is lemmy.world, which I see has defederated from lemmygrad.ml. If I post to a community on lemmygrad.ml, will everyone be able to see it?

What if the opposite is true? What if lemmygrad.ml is the one who defederated from lemmy.world, and not the other way around as in the above example?

I'm just a little confused by how federation works. I know that I won't see lemmygrad.ml posts on my All feed due to defederation, regardless of who defederates with whom.

We are normally good at masking bc its expected of us but I am so tired of it. I'm so tired of having to pretend like I'm someone I'm not.

Then when we mess up and let our guard down or make a mistake and accidentally show people we are ND, we get dogpiled or yelled at. It sucks especially bc we sometimes don't understand social mores, so even when we are confident that we are acting the way NTs expect us to, we can end up wrong and still get yelled at.

It's awful bc we are never gonna create a more equitable society if we can't have these types of conversations with NTs. We have to show them that bring ND isn't an insult, but that's when we get yelled at or made fun of.

I support the writer's guild strike because they are not part of the bourgeoisie. The same can't be said of a lot of these rich actors who own a ton of capital themselves. So on the one hand, it kind of seems like the bourgeoisie is fighting the bourgeoisie on this one. On the other hand, not every actor in the guild is as successful as Tom Cruise, so some of those striking actors are working class.
