it's just a line from The Big Lebowski with the word trumpism swapped for National Socialism, i was not being serious at all.

say what you want about the tenets of trumpism, Dude, at least it's an ethos!

(jokes aside I am no contact now with any of my relatives who expresses any pro trump support. I'm trans and fuck you, fam!)

real experiences

It just sounds like my partner and you enjoy different 'real experiences'. I just don't get the judgment against people who have fun alone playing games for fun with their money vs whatever 'real experience' it is that you value.

People buy flowers, nice food and drinks, go to amusement parks. They get nothing but memories. My partner has lots of fond memories from building castles in the game. Why is one set of experiences acceptable to spend money on but not another, to you?

things can only be enjoyed if you trade money for physical objects then?

Cuz my partner has gotten many many hundreds of hours of enjoyment from the few hundred bucks they have 'wasted' on things like Fallout76 furniture and stuff. Eventually she will stop playing and 'lose' all that stuff.

I personally think the many hundred hours of happy playtime is well worth it. It's her favorite way to relax after work. We don't have a lot of space for her to build real castles but she spends sooo much of her time enjoying building virtual ones.

How is it any different from enjoying nice food or drinks with friends?

I was undefeated in my office at wwf because my brain is happy to just sit for hours and try every single combination of letters until it discovers a word that's allowed. i also played very defensively like the commenter above you.

They were playing a word game and i was playing a strategy game with bonus stimming!

if you upload the same pic here and to linkedin people can connect your lemmy account to your linkedin account, for instance. tineye.com is as example of a tool that does this well

I had an interview like this, it was supposed to be Pair Programming which i had been doing very well for 5 years in RoR.

I get to the interview and they haven't actually done any pair programming, they WANT to.

And the interview was 'write a tic tac toe game in ruby on rails in one hour'

And they literally had nothing, we were in the zoom call the guy was like 'okay go' but every time i asked him any questions he told me to just do whatever i thought was right and he didn't want to influnce me.

I got RoR and dependencies and apache installed and either finished or almost finished mariadb in that hour but i was doing it all over my own home internet so didn't really get very far and they seemed really annoyed!?!

Then the best part was the senior programmer told me that they don't have time to do code reviews and all the engineers just merged whatever they wanted into master, but it was fine that way. I think he didn't like having anyone review his code.

LOL

all around the world including in most US states minors are legally allowed alcohol with their parents consent.

In 8 US states minors can drink at restaurants with their parents permission but in practice you very rarely see it!
