I think a key for me was understanding what the relationship between theory and praxis was. Theory is the writings of people who are trying to develop ways of thinking which are useful for positive political change based on their experiences on the ground. Praxis is the actions of those people, driven by that theory. So they both depend on each other. You’re going to understand theory better if you’re out doing praxis and your praxis is going to be more effective if you’ve read some theory and learned from the mistakes of the past.

Ideally people would know the difference between various services and gain a little insight into what they need either on their own or through some introductory talk therapy. Do you need DBT? Do you need EMDR? Do you need somatic therapy? Is basic CBT enough? Do you need someone who specializes in a certain disorder? Wading through all that can be hard and is rarely done properly.

My jobs have consistently gotten easier and less demanding as I’ve been promoted and made more money. I don’t think this is true across the board, but it’s common enough that the opposite should not be as prevalent of a “common sense” opinion as it is.
I feel this. There are also a lot of people, both temporarily and permanently disabled, who have just never thought of themselves as disabled and will get very upset if you imply otherwise. I’ve had that experience talking to people about long covid. It’s frustrating.
There are a ton of emergency preparedness plans whose official stance on physically disabled people is to leave them behind. Disability activists have been sounding this alarm for years.
