And I'm forever stuck with that horribly inappropriate "ding, fries are done" version in my head...

Should it have happened? No. Two wrongs don't make a right, and all that. Prison shouldn't be dangerous for inmates, no matter what they've done.

Am I upset to hear that the personification of "ACAB" got stabbed in prison? Also no.

It needs to be an activity I can do on autopilot. I'm not listening to books while cooking a new recipe, driving somewhere I've never been, or playing a game that still requires any thought. Even when I can do it on autopilot, I have to pause and/or rewind occasionally (but not terribly often). Regardless, I know not everyone can easily split their attention for this.

Audiobooks are also great if distraction keeps you from reading. Similarly, they help if you have trouble staying interested during the boring parts of a book.

Both apply to me, and I've gotten through hundreds of audiobooks since I started ~11 years ago. I listen while traveling, cooking, cleaning, doing puzzles, and even while playing some videogames. I often listen alongside my wife or kids, making it a much more shared experience than a regular book. Audiobooks are great.

The question implies that you would still have your human brain, not that you would think like an actual duck.

Nice thought, but I try to wait for things to go on sale before buying. Not buying on the biggest day for sales kind of goes against that.

Pasta? You mean flour with a bunch of stuff added to it?

Yeah, it's far too expensive in hot weather to get proper indoor conditions for a fire, a blanket, and hot tea -- if you can manage it at all. I'm not sure if it's just a matter of poor insulation that allows for those conditions or what, but I couldn't properly replicate them in my house.

I mean, I'm not, but only because I am too lazy to change (so far). I've been remarkably content with the Steam Deck desktop experience, so I'm leaning more and more towards Linux.

Temperature scale doesn't matter in daily life, so I hate that there's always this argument about which scale makes more sense. Knowing what a given temperature feels like is no more difficult than remembering that water freezes at 32 degrees fahrenheit and boils at 212.

I'm all for a system based around multiples of 10, but for temperature, even Celsius isn't done that way, other than 0 and 100.
