I have always wondered why I was taught in school for so long and it turns out that apparently lots of other people were taught this too.

The only reason I can think if that we were raight that blood in the body is blue is because our veins look blue. But does anyone know where that myth came from or why kids are still being taught this today?

I honestly do not know the difference between and a stim toy and I usually use the two terms interchangeably.

My favorite fidget toys is my flippy chain. I use this thing all the time, at home or whilst I'm out, And I love that it's discreet and quiet.

What's your favorite fidget toy, or thing yiu like to fidget/stim with? (Crossposted from ADHD community)

I used Rosanna Pansino's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe and they turned out really good!

I am proud of myself. 😊

We are currently at Walmart getting groceries for dinner. And the stuff to make chocolate chip cookies later today.

We also need to go to Target to see how much it costs for them to put prescription lenses in my new glasses.

We hope you have a great Friday!! 😊

Also, his brother is Matt Groening, the guy who created The Simpsons.

Any time anyone starts throwing insults and slurs at me like a Frisbee in lieu of an actual counterarguement

And see, that's what my problem was

Yes, I am technically a type-2 diabetic, but i am a diabetic with good numbers, so my insurance is saying "oh we wont pay for those meds. You don't need it."πŸ™„πŸ˜’

[-] KuromiGirl04@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

Yeah, paying $200+ a week for a shot. In this economy?

I don't know anyone who has that kind of money

Let me explain with my current situation. I am 22 F and I currently weigh 305lbs.

I am obese. Morbidly obese.

Even though I have been trying for 5 years at this point to lose the weight on my own. Eat healthier, eat more fruits and veggies, cut out excess sugar, walk more, exercise more, the whole kit and caboodle.

But I still am not losing the weight. I am still very fat. And I am worried that it will cause very serious health problems.

So I talked with my doctor and she told me "We need to get you on a weight loss medication. Let's try Ozempic".

But my insurance told us that they don't think I need the Ozempic so they won't pay for it.

So we tried Wegovy and Mounjaro. But my insurance still rejected our requests.

They're saying because I am young, and I am a diabetic with good numbers, I dont need the weight loss meds and I can just lose the weight naturally.

But ive been trying to and it hasn't been working. So that's why my doctor prescribed me the weight loss med.

Why is this allowed? Why is it that your insurance can deny you a medication, even if your doctor says you need it?

Yep, Mychal Threets is the new host of Reading Rainbow!

And he's also the official residential librarian for PBS Kids.

I got to meet him in Kansas City, and he was just as kind and gentle in real life, maybe even moreso, as he is in his posts

Oh my stars, this has got to be, single handedly, the absolute best answer I've ever received on any post!

Oh my goodness this had me laughing out loud for a good 5 minutes and I'm still laughing.

Thank you for the good chuckle, I love to laugh. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and week

Toys collecting. Especially dolls and or stuffed animals.

When a guy collects PokΓ©mon figures, that's fine and cool.

However when I like to buy myself Bratz dolls and Hello Kitty stuff and cute plushies, I'm told I am childish and I need to grow upπŸ™„πŸ˜’

Does little guy even know that he exists?

[-] KuromiGirl04@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

Being more playful. Find more things to laugh and smile about.

Tap into my inner child, getting back into the things I loved as a child because I am a kidult with free will.

Sleep with stuffed animals and taking a plushie with me when I go out, despite what people may think.

Look for glimmer moments in my day.

The world is a hot pile of shitty dumpster fire, but I won't let it take away my smile and wonder and laughter. I will be happy in spite of the world

This is in the United States, during segregation.

The little girl in the picture is Ruby Bridges. In 1960, she was one of the first Black kids to integrate a school. In this picture, she is walking to an all-Whites school and the guards are protecting her because the racist white adults wanted to harm her just for wanting to go to school.

Ruby Bridges is still alive today.

6-year old Ruby Bridges walking to school.

This picture was always so powerful to me. I think I had that one famous illustrated storybook about Ruby Bridges.

Wait, im sorry, huh? How did the teacher even know about it if it was during the weekend?

Yeah that was apparently the original intentions of BANDAI.

Looking back now, the ads I remember watching on Disney Channel for Tamagotchi really did only have girls in them. I never realized that til now.

I think the thought process was probably like "girls like cutesy wootsy little characters! Boys like monsters that'll fight each other!"
