Imho, it' partly because then they know their kids have reached that stage in their lives where they are stable and have a home as well as are socially cared for and care for their significant other. Puts their minds at ease basically and they can age peacefully. Most parents basically want the best for their children and this is one symptom of it (now I'm prepared to get the replies of all the people with shitty parents.)

Why would you convert gifs to video to optimize storage space? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

You think there would be no social media left if Twitter, Reddit, Facebook & Co. went down? Using Lemmy?

By extension it would give more of an excuse for the top 1% to give even less of a fck about earth and the climate. Next thing you'd see is all the rich bailing to another planet while those who can't afford it are left with what's left of earth and the hellscape they left behind (and probably still have more agency over earth than those still living on there).

I've been wondering, since I'm on lemmy.world, whether there is a way to see which instances were defederated and I had no way of knowing even existed from here.

Another question I have is that the dude who replied just now. I could see his comment in my inbox but when opening the thread it's empty (even though it says it has one comment). This also happens with other threads.

I'm on Connect btw.

The Irishman - It was so highly recommended by many but I could only go through half the movie (which is 3h long) and despite having watched 90 mins I couldn't bring myself to watch the second half or recap what happened in the first. Maybe too much flew over my head but it bored me too much and I couldn't see the appeal at all.

Feature rich? Probably. User friendly? Bro skipped doing a hot take and went straight to supernova.
