Probably closer to intermittent reward than Pavlovian conditioning! But yeah, definitely already "well defined" by psychology haha

Idk, my education, research and work is in neuroscience and psychology but I've spent more time in hospital and on psychiatric wards as a patient myself than most of my patients do. So I have some fun viewpoints from both sides of the couch (or locked ward as it were). Would people want to read that for the juicy voyerism? Maybe?

Oh yeah, if we're going with the former I'm like, 15/100 at best, the latter were looking at a nice 65/100 I'd say!

You have lovely colour choices and tonal variation happening! One tip I could give is to do some of the water in layers, using a wet on wet application you can create edges that look a bit like the layering of waves on the beachfront. Also utilising my transparency (less pigment) on the shoreline and more toward the 'deep' water will give the illusion of the deepening waters :) start with your least pigmented later, let it dry then work your way out :)

Fascinating read, thank you for the education on a topic I knew nothing about!

It's all good! I didn't want to sound preachy or anything, and I did notice you weren't the only one making the call (but didn't want to span my thoughts and you were first appearing in my scrolling).

I think another comment made that call about it being a reflection of a fragile sense of masculinity which lands better imo. Like, that's plausibly true, and doesn't perpetuate a cultural narrative that penis length is a corollary of masculine worthiness.

Dick size is not the issue, let's not make a genetically determined physical trait something to shame people over, when people who drive such massive vehicles have actual things we can criticise them for!

I know it's a joke, but idk not an inventive or funny one imo.

That's what's stopped me commenting too, Jerboa allows me to type out a whole comment then I lose it when I got post if the server is down. I am Australian though and recently learnt that the LW team have no-one who lives in this timezone so I can hardly blame em!

Yeah same, well here's my active status for the month.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a second out of my day to say how blown away I am by the incredible work being put into the Jerboa app, I just explored some of the logs and info available and everyone contributing (especially the people coding the revisions and fixes) are working so hard. It honestly gives me so much faith in humanity to see the efforts being put into making Jerboa keep up with the influx of people when you all have outside lives that you are also juggling! Even in the week or so of being on the app the user experience (coming from an absolute layperson, so I can't even fully appreciate what's going on technically) has been improving at a crazy fast rate. I hope you all take a breather when you can and know that you are incredibly appreciated :)

I'm using lemmy.world via Jerboa app, but I frequently get "timeout" pop up, sometimes crashing it. Does anyone know if this is just to do with more people suddenly using the app? Or is a bug? Or something I'm doing badly?

Yeah great tip, it took a while to occur to me too!

We need more very hungry caterpillar memes in this world. Cute and relatable as I write procrastinating from my cocoon!
