Since 1977 the US federal government has had to require many grocery stores to sell produce. The margins are lower, the labor is higher, and they use a lot of grocery floor space. Without that intervention there probably wouldn't be access to any produce at all for most Americans. Capitalism is very much the center of this story. In Europe the varieties of produce being grown are being mainly dictated by flavor and taste, in the USA resistance to insects, cheaper to harvest, size of product are the main criteria when the varieties of seeds to plant are being selected.

My dog is afraid of trains which is occasionally inconvenient for traveling somewhere far as we live car free.

If I had just paired his vaccines with Tylenol he would have instead been able to identify the year and model of every locamotive 🚂 and seek them out like he does now with french fries. 🍟

TLDR: Suburban Republican legislators got unreasonably angry over an urban bike lane being installed, they demanded an expensive study to prove bike lanes are bad for cars. Study found bike lanes cause no harm to car traffic, but the construction company should have helped businesses and emergency services more during the construction phase. Suburban Republicans still mad they weren't consulted first, still plan on vetoing any future traffic calming in a city they don't live in despite screaming "local control" about other issues.

I do! My religious mother said it was certain because her church Facebook group said there was an upcoming blood moon and quoted some ambiguous bible verses. She wanted me to go buy a dozen cheap tents at K-mart's store closing sale. I refused and she bore witness to me that it was the end of days.

I reminded her about the "prophesies" she spouted to me on inauguration day and she rolled her eyes and asked why I was holding onto the past.

A "dress code" this limiting is essentially just getting employees to pay for the uniform.

I was once rear ended at a red light. I was knocked unconscious and the driver drove off. A few kind witnesses called police who took a report. They got half his plate imprinted on my bumper, but never tracked him down. I had State Farm, and I was even paying extra for the "uninsured driver coverage". They said they couldn't cover it because until they had another driver's information I was automatically at fault, even with the police report and witness accounts. They said it didn't count as uninsured driver because it's possible the guy had insurance. I was flabbergasted.

In the end I had a concussion and needed to take time off work for recovery and my short term disability insurance ended up suing State Farm because they didn't want to pay for my medical treatment. State Farm agreed to cover medical care but only if it was recorded as my fault and I paid my deductible. In anger I tried to switch insurance companies but found out they have a shared database and since it was recorded as a hit and run my fault, nobody else would take me. And State Farm jacked my rate up 30%...

Think of other topics and questions than work, Americans care too much about work outside of work.

Switch your phone apps to celsius and start your brain switching ASAP.

Knowing what country or region you're going to would help
