  1. you had a bad android tv.
  2. apple tv doesn't work with really any audio formats and limited dv formats
  3. on a good android tv box the picture would be better than the apple tv

Apple tv is the only thing close. Bravia core doesn't count

Just because android and ios look clean doesn't mean they look the same.

Why can iPhones seamlessly switch between resolutions, framerates, and dynamic ranges, but not Apple TV? in c/[email protected]

No. They have a partnership with lg electronics and Samsung. There is no excuse. Many other Blu-ray players do this easily.
