The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

I'm happy for you. I recently had a similar issue of upgrading my CPU (and GPU but that was easy) and it took like a solid week of me spending every moment to diagnose that one of the RAM sticks went bad and the new CPU needed to be downclocked a tiny bit to stop freezes. Which I did and now I'm hoping to get some RAM for Christmas.

I decided I'm not gunna' play any game that isn't released on PS4 or Switch. My PC isn't really powerful enough to play PS5-exclusive games anyway, so that sets a similar hard-limit. I was gunna' decide no game post-2020 but this choice made more sense.

I remember reading an article by Cosmo about music/metal on his ex-blog Invisible Oranges about how since we have a limited amount of time on Earth we're all making limits or acting within limits like these anyway. Some are just more conscious of it than others, so it shouldn't be treated as weird for someone to consciously decide they want to engage with a hobby in a specific manner like this.

It's optimized around dev costs and not performance, sadly.

Cannot imagine caring about the "Game Awards". Firstly, it's a stupid mix of industry professional nominations and popularity vote, I think. Secondly, it's called "The Game Awards" which is the least-inspired name ever. Thirdly, it's mostly just trailers and the emphasis is put on the trailers, so if you got free advertising from it by being mentioned on it constantly you're out ahead anyway.

Small business owner tyrant at the place I used to work at is such an anti-worker shithead that he's driving the workers to likely unionize because he's merging two businesses into one bigger business and can't be bothered to be clear about how many of them are going to keep their jobs, etc. The new place is bigger than both places combined so it's likely all or almost all of them but he's too uncarting and stupid to be clear on that so get fucked, dude. Hope they unionize.

Now he's periodically throwing at me the included bracket mount screws that he's also juggling. Real mature, guy.

Trying to get the other people on the street to listen to my rant and read my marxist pamphlets that I'm tossing in their air at them but this new guy's deftly teetering on his TV box long-side-up and I'm being shunned as they laugh and cheer and jeer at his display of showmanship.

Getting talked down to by a guy on the street standing on a bigger TV box (98").

eBay is telling me $300 USD.

We're going to have to swap to using Walmart TV boxes.

How much does a big box of soap cost these days?

Oh, so it's "bad" when Haruhi does the "same" episode 8 times in a row but when Wolf's Rain does 4 recap episodes in a row that's OK?

I thought so.
