This website's use of stock images and gifs were aggravating. The actual case study was worth the read, but only covers a single pair of individuals: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0191886922001477

It's certainly interesting. I'm particularly curious about the effects of the multiple confusions:

US had three concussions as an adult, caused by car accidents and from falling on ice. The most recent and severe incident occurred in January 2018, resulting in classic symptoms of light sensitivity and concentration difficulty. US feels she is a “different person,” with increased anger and anxiety. She requires additional time to process information in some problem-solving situations, although she has always seen herself as a poor test taker.

Some of the conclusions seemed a stretch for a single sample. I'm much more curious about more extensive studies with many more subjects.

This one went over just as I hoped. Haha.

Help me understand this cartoon. If you remove Jackie, I get it and find it funny. However, add her in and it's confusing to me. She was JFKs widow, right? I did a little reading about her, but didn't pick up why the creator added her amongst the fabled beasts...

Edit: "breasts" to "beasts," because while I'm largely ignorant regarding Jackie Kennedy, she probably deserves better than my silly misspelling.

I struggle to enjoy what YouTube has become and as a result don't follow much anything anymore... But I do want to thank you for sharing this video!

The amount of skill and creativity and love that went into these books was absolutely incredible to watch. I'm going to show my family. Seriously, this was such a pleasure.

And while I have read Brandon Sanderson books (introduced to him through the WoT), I haven't actually read the Stormlight Archive. My partner has though and they are really excited about the latest book. I think I know what my next series will be.

Incredible! 💜

Good grief. That's the first time I've seen that clip. The way politicians flip-flop for their own personal gain makes me sick. And that doesn't even touch on the fact that this affects real people at such a basic level.

No one is going to walk around bathrooms inspecting for penises or the lack thereof. At the heart of the matter, no one actually gives a damn. This is all just pure bigotry plain and simple. That and the politics of playing bigots for their votes.

I hope hope hope that people like Sarah McBride will follow people like Mike Johnson into the bathroom and then, from the stall next to him, say every most uncomfortable thing that she can think of to make Johnson rue the day he banned trans women from using the restroom with dignity at their place of work.

Goodness! There's so many real problems in this world. Why are people letting politicians get away from doing their actual jobs and focusing on minutia like this.

/me eagerly raises hand

"Ooooh oooh! Mrs. So-and-so! Tell us more child appropriate passages like Ezekiel 23:20! It says, 'There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.'"

"In his last days, he chose to stay near the main hospital in Nabatieh to help the elderly, disabled, injured, and those who simply couldn't financially afford to flee," Jawad's family said. "He served as their guardian, provided them with food, mattresses, and other comforts, and anonymously paid off their debts."

One American citizen identified as Karam toldAl Jazeera that she "called the U.S. embassy in Beirut for help fleeing the violence," but "was told to find a way out of the country by herself," the outlet reported.

"Karam, who chose to be identified by her nickname out of fear of retaliation, drew a contrast with how the US State Department swiftly chartered special flights and a ship to evacuate American citizens in Israel after Hamas' October 7 attack last year," Al Jazeera noted.

"Americans of Lebanese descent have been treated as lesser U.S. citizens than Israeli U.S. citizens," she said. "It is as if we don't exist."

I'd say fight it, because it can be won. Then again, I'd rather my child be a part of a troop that's welcoming and safe. It's hard to be a trailblazer.

There's a lot of reasons to shop around with different troops. This reason is particularly important.

As we know though, trans youth have it particularly bad from every direction right now. 😖

I've been using LibreOffice for a number of years without issue. Literally takes care of all my word processing and spreadsheet needs. I don't miss MS Office at all, which I use daily at work.

I also just saw this. What a travesty.

Putin addressed the warnings a couple weeks later, criticizing the warning three days ago as "provocative."

Per TASS, the Russian president said on March 19 the aim of "the recent provocative statements of a number of official Western structures about the possibility of terrorist attacks in Russia" was harming Russian society.

"All this resembles outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society," Putin said, according to state media reporting on his remarks.

This is exactly what I was wondering. I was hoping I would be wrong, but damn...

A White House official shared more information Friday evening in a statement reported by multiple outlets.

"Earlier this month, the US government had information about a planned terrorist attack in Moscow — potentially targeting large gatherings, to include concerts — which prompted the State Department to issue a public advisory to Americans in Russia," said Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council.

"The US government also shared this information with Russian authorities in accordance with its longstanding 'duty to warn' policy," Watson said, referring to the US policy in the intelligence community to notify potential victims, regardless of whether or not they are US citizens, of certain credible impending threats
