Sorry, I never use this account, but the other commenter explained it fine. According to the accidental poisoning theory, the apple was not injected with cyanide, but rather he or the apple was accidentally exposed to it as a byproduct of his chemistry research.
I was late in checking up on things but I appreciate what you shared
I feel like it's more the racism than the religious devotion, but who's to say?
I can see that you took note of my commentary on word choice, but you seem to be discounting the idea of charity on the part of whoever runs this hypothetical indie media outlet (see lemmy itself) even as you accept the idea of the audience engaging in charity. Of course, there are scams like PragerU that run at a loss as propaganda outlets, but we can see that they do this by being bankrolled by billionaires.
The idea of a service being "illegitimate" when it is not trying to sell things is bizarre, since your argument seems to lead to the conclusion that "it is outside of the economic framework I have put forward" without explaining the basis for the hypothetical scam.
Could a self-identified Makhnovist be anything but a cultist?
It might be interesting to start a conversation on the appropriate comm there about whichever rule is being enforced (check the modlog) and challenge the rule.
If people chose a ‘red’ government, and they are chosen through continued fair elections with no disingenuous means or force, all the power to them.
What would that look like? Specifically, let us imagine a world where it is true that Cuba or the DPRK or wherever does indeed hold free and fair elections on a regular basis, but that everything else about the world was exactly as you, I assume, admit it is (such as the vicious sanctioning and libel by western powers). From where you are sitting, what would the difference be? What sort of information would you be aware of, would you receive from where you are in the world and the media you consume, that was in any way different?
Do as you will, I just suggest not conflating the two in the future. I think if anything communicating a passionate disdain for people like Beehaw's lying admins (along with Democrats, Republicans, Blairites, etc) would be a positive for new user interest.
How is that hate speech? Saying you hate an admin team is not hate speech
The point there is not that the USA is bad but that it is order of magnitudes worse, which means that opposing its enemies must be considered through the lens of "Does this help the US?"
To say nothing of the incredible amount of State Department propaganda that many western so-called leftists readily accept at the same time as "disavowing" the US as "also bad". If you believe the same things about the US's enemies that the US is actively campaigning to make you believe, that is a red flag.
There's a very conscious effort from the radlib cliques to close off lemmygrad

Sorry, I never use this account. I don't really know about the reception of his death at the time, I was speaking in the present tense for a reason. Perhaps no official investigation by the state was conducted, but people have looked into the circumstances since and it being an accident is today certainly one of the most prominent theories outside of the pop culture "bury your gays" story, which may well have spawned from an incorrect ruling made at the time but generally is not well-regarded now because, as you note, it's ridiculous and there's just not much evidence for it.
